We

pray for God to help us worship

Pastor: All:

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! He died for us that we might live for him.

SEATED

God calls us to confess our sin Liturgist:

from 1 John 1:5-6, 8-9

God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not pracUce the truth. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confession con*nues on page 3 page 2

All:

We confess that we are oBen content to walk in darkness and deceive ourselves rather than face our sin and its impact. We confess that we are prone to hide or jusDfy our sins rather than confessing the evil we do, trusDng your forgiveness in Jesus, and reconciling with people we hurt. But we know and confess to you now that we sin against you every day in thought, word, and deed by what we have done and by what we have leB undone. We are truly sorry, and we humbly repent. Lord, have mercy on us.

(silent prayers of confession)

Liturgist:

Gracious Father, forgive us for running from the light. Renew us and lead us by your Holy Spirit to desire and to trust the cleansing you provide us freely in Christ. Make us eager to confess and reconcile with one another and eager to forgive and restore others in grace and truth as you forgive us daily with abundant, steadfast love for your great glory and our great joy.

All (sing): chorus of “Help My Unbelief” (Page 2)

STANDING (IF ABLE)

God declares our forgiveness Liturgist:

We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

All:

from 1 John 2:1–2; 2 Corinthians 5:21

For all who have turned from sin in sorrow and look to God for mercy, this is God’s gi_. In Jesus Christ, God loves you, God forgives you, God accepts you, and God rejoices over you as beloved daughters and sons. Hallelujah, Amen!

All:

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptaDon, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
