Wow, October already! We’ve only been in school for a little over a month and the school year has started with so much enthusiasm! There is still much more to look forward to!! We had some amazing smiles during individual school pictures, thank you to all of the parents that helped throughout the week. We could not have done this without your help. Next week is fire prevention week. Ask your child to show you what they are learning about fire safety. This is an opportune time to check the smoke detectors in your house and replace the batteries in them. Also to make a family escape plan in case of an emergency in your home. The Nassau Bay Fire Department is bringing the truck and providing a safety presentation Tuesday, 10/9, and Wednesday, 10/10 from 9:3011:30am. Any parents that are able to help the children on and off the truck during this time is greatly appreciated. Just let us know which day you are available. Thank you to the Nassau Bay Volunteer Fire Department for participating and teaching our students as they continue to serve the community. The children learn about various Community Helpers throughout the year. Not all Community Helpers are human, some are animals! This month they will enjoy a special visit with JOY the comfort dog during their activity period. JOY, is a trained service dog and fully vaccinated 2 year old Golden Retriever. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in this activity, please let Administration know. There will be an alternative activity for those children not able or not wanting to participate. Some Other October calendar events you may want to make note of: 10/1 Double Good Popcorn orders and monies are due. 10/1-5

Proofs from Lifetouch Preschool Portraits will be placed in your child’s cubbie. All order will placed online and Lifetouch will mail directly to the address you provide.

Spirit Day! This is a normal school day at Day One Christian Academy (Halloween is not part of our curriculum) so please dress your child in their Day One Christian Academy t-shirts.

Now that it is the autumn season, the weather tends to be warm one day and cooler the next with rain in between. Please dress your child appropriately for the ever-changing weather and provide alternate clothing for your child if you anticipate the weather might change during the school day. A change in weather also brings changes in the seasonal allergies and illnesses. Please help your child with nose wipes and washing hands at home as well as at school, so together we may control the spread of germs. Please, DO NOT send your child to school if you suspect they are ill or they do not feel well enough to participate in classroom activities. If you have any questions that I may help you with, you may contact me at [email protected] Please visit our website at www.dayonechristianacademy.org for continuous updates and additional program information.
