God calls us to confess our sin

from Psalm 1:1-2; James 4:8, 10

Liturgist: Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. So cleanse your hands and purify your hearts. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

We confess our sin Liturgist: Father, you have blessed us by plan[ng your word and Spirit in us to fill us with flourishing life and eternal delight. All: But we have sought the way of life in other loves and found them to be the way of death. We ignore or reject your good law as useless or evil, and we rebel because we think you cannot or will not provide. We have sought delight and escape in pleasures that fade and enslave. We have sought counsel from a confused and cynical world with no direc
God declares our forgiveness

from Romans 8:1-2

Liturgist:

There is therefore now no condemna[on for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For all who have turned from sin in sorrow and look to God for mercy, this is God’s gi_. In Jesus Christ, God loves you, God forgives you, God accepts you, and God rejoices over you as beloved daughters and sons.

All:

Hallelujah, Amen!

God feeds us at his table Central Presbyterian welcomes all Chris[ans who ac[vely trust in Jesus Christ for salva[on, who are willing to forsake their sin, and who are members of congrega[ons that proclaim the gospel to receive Holy Communion with us. If you are not ready to receive communion, you may simply pass the elements by. We also urge you to meditate on one of the prayers below. Bread: The bread is gluten-free. Ea)ng and drinking: Please eat and drink as you receive the bread and the cup when you are ready. We will not hold the elements and wait to eat un[l all have been served. Prayer for those searching: Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Help me to be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open me to the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent and convincing and that leads to the life you promise. Amen. Prayer of new belief: Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever dared believe, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt on the cross, taking what I deserved in order to offer me complete forgiveness. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as my Savior and Lord. Amen.
