Our gracious Father, it is easy for us to believe lies about you and about ourselves. We oZen think too li`le of your love and mercy and too highly of ourselves. We fear that you love us only if we are good enough. We are prone to believe that you accept us only if our morality merits your favor and only if our performance earns your praise. We are prone to credit ourselves when we do what is right. When we do wrong, we deal with our guilt and shame by offering you our own flawed record to earn a reward rather than humbly offering to you our need and receiving and resDng in the giE of your love, the righteousness of Christ our Savior for us. Since we have been jus:fied by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who jus:fies. Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised— who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.
