Lord, remind me of how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered, and that my life is fleeing away. My life is no longer than the width of my hand. An entire lifetime is just a moment to you; human existence is but a breath.
You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.
You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer.
Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty.
Teach us to number our days so that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
I replied by sending this message to them, “I am doing a great work! I cannot stop to come down and meet with you.”
They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season without fail. Their leaves never wither, and in all they do they prosper.
Seek first His kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
