CALL TO WORSHIP One: All: One: All: One:
The heavens tell of the glory of God. All the earth proclaims God’s handiwork. Our souls rejoice in God’s presence. Clear us from all hidden faults. That we may worship God together.
“Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart!”
CALL TO CONFESSION
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
FIRST SCRIPTURE READING
Generous God, we work hard to acquire a sense of material well-being. We get caught in a cycle of wanting more, thinking it will make us feel safer. We live in fear of running out of money before we run out of life. We suffer under the false understanding that if we have more we will feel better. Forgive our greedy natures. Forgive our misunderstanding of the importance of money and worldly possessions. Forgive our desire to find security in material goods. Remind us that you provide all we need. Inspire us to live with charity toward all.
SILENT CONFESSION …in Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
GLORIA PATRI (Hymn 581) Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

“God Has Work for Us to Do”
Mark A . Miller
“’Til all the jails are empty and all the bellies filled; ’til no one hurts or steals or lies, and no more blood is spilled: God has work for us to do, ’til God’s will is done and all things are made new, God has work for us to do! ’Til age and race and gender no longer separate; ’til pulpit, press, and politics are free of greed and hate: God has work for us to do! In tenement and mansion in factory, farm, and mill, in board room and in billiard hall, in wards where time stands still, In classroom, church, and office, in shops, of on the street, in every place where people thrive, or starve, or hide, or meet. God has work for us. By sitting at a bedside to hold pale, trembling hands, by speaking for the powerless against unjust demands. By praying through our doing, and singing though we fear, by trusting that the seed we sow will bring God’s harvest near: God has work for us to do!”

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
Gilbert M. Martin
“Jesus walked his lonesome valley, he had to walk it for himself; Nobody else could walk it for him, he had to walk it for himself. Jesus went to stand his trial. He had to stand it for himself; Nobody else could stand it for him, he had to stand it for himself. I must walk my lonesome valley, I have to walk it for myself; Nobody else can walk it for me. I have to walk it for myself. I must walk my lonesome valley.”
DOXOLOGY (Hymn 606) Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise him, all creatures here below; praise him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.
