ANNUAL HOA MEETING TUESDAY, MAY 10th @ 7PM

The Lakewood Grove HOA will be having its annual meeting on Tuesday, May 10th, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakewood Elementary School on Gettysburg Drive. At this meeting there will be a vote taken on the following item: 1. Election of one position to the Lakewood Grove HOA Board of Directors for a 3 year term. The Director position is currently held by Gloria Tann, who has indicated her willingness to continue in that role. Any other candidates who wish to run for this position should submit their request to Bridgett Cummings @ SCS Management (281-500-7111 281-500-7187 (fax) or [email protected]), before May 5, in order to be added to the printed ballot for the May meeting. You may also submit a biographical profile which will also be included in the ballot. Nominations to the Board position can also be taken from the floor at the meeting. A quorum, 10% of the resident votes is required in order to meet the election requirements. You should be receiving your notice and proxy in the mail soon. You can bring your proxy to the meeting or submit it directly to SCS Management (postage paid) but must be received prior to the meeting date. You can also have a neighbor that is attending bring it to the meeting. If we do not have at least 10% of the resident's votes the meeting will be void and consequently will cost us more money to schedule another meeting. If you have questions/concerns regarding your neighborhood, make an effort to have at least one member of your household attend the meeting. The Board has invited the Harris County Constable's office to attend and field some of your questions/concerns. We look forward to seeing you there. Lakewood Grove HOA Board of Directors

Foundation for Foreign Study Families from all over the Houston area are opening up their homes and lives to foreign exchange students through the EF Foundation for Foreign Study. EF Foundation is a leader in high school foreign exchange, bringing more students to the United States than any other exchange program. A nonprofit committed to promoting global awareness for over 30 years; EF Foundation leverages a committed network of local coordinators to connect thousands of students with caring American families each year. EF exchange students come from more than 30 countries around the world and are between the ages of 15 and 18. The majority of students stay for a full high school year. In the past, exchange students have come to live in Texas from as far away as Germany, Hong Kong, Australia and Norway, to name a few. I am an International Exchange Coordinator for EF Foundation. I will be working with the community to secure host families for a number of students this year. In order to raise awareness of this life-changing opportunity, we need the community to see local narratives of the wonderful families and students who have had unforgettable experiences through the program.

Cycling from Austin to Alaska

My name is Will Ragan and I am from Floresville, Texas, a small town just south of San Antonio. I am writing to you today because this summer I am cycling from Austin, Texas to Anchorage, Alaska to fight cancer. Yes, you read that correctly. I am not crazy, but am a member of the 2011 LiveSTRONG Texas 4000 for Cancer team. We are a group of fifty-six students from the University of Texas at Austin who is working hard to raise money and awareness for the fight against cancer. Next summer, my team and I will embark upon a 4,500 mile trek across North America in hopes of inspiring communities across the nation to help in the battle against cancer. Starting June 4th, 2011, we will cycle through various communities, make cancer

awareness presentations, and educate people on cancer prevention and early detection. By sharing our experiences and enthusiasm, we will work to foster hope among those who are personally suffering from this disease. Additionally, we hope to contribute over $400,000 to cancer research with the American Cancer Society and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Each rider is responsible for raising $4,500. Please consider being a part of our group and sharing in our enthusiasm by making a much appreciated donation. Besides helping in a meaningful cause, your donation will be entirely tax-deductible as we are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The proceeds from our event will go towards research for finding a cure for our nation’s

second leading cause of death. If you are so generous as to make a monetary contribution to support our cause, please send checks to the address below, made payable to Texas 4000 with my name (Will Ragan) on the “payment for” line. I highly encourage you to visit our website, www.texas4000.org, for much more information or contact me with any questions that you may have. If you prefer to donate online you can do so from our team website by clicking on “Donate” and then the “Make a Donation” button and through PayPal, you can make a donation with your credit card. Don’t forget: Put “Will Ragan” in the “Purpose” field, so I can receive credit for your donation. Anything you decide to donate will be greatly appreciated - no amount is too small.
