LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING

e are so thankful that you have chosen to worship with us today. If you are visiting let me welcome you and ask that you please fill out a Connection card found in the pew and return it to an usher at some point today. It is hard to believe that another year is about to pass behind us. This week I will begin my 5th year as the Pastor of Second Baptist and my 20th year in Gospel ministry. I am so grateful for all that I have experienced in this season of life. I have grown to love the Lord for all His gracious acts towards me. I can also assure you that I am more committed to Him and the work He has called me to than every before. As you look back over 2018, can I ask you a few questions? First, can you say that you are pursuing Jesus more today than you were at the beginning of the year? Second, can you testify that at some point this year that you shared the gospel with someone? These two simple questions summarize the expectation of every Christian. The Bible has called us to love Him and to tell others of that love. Everything else is secondary. I pray that these questions will prod you in 2019 to accomplish God’s will for your life. While His mercies are new every morning, this Tuesday is a symbolic time to reset our lives and our focus. Understand that the Lord loves you and desires to use you like never before. Don’t allow your failures and shortcomings to rob you of His purpose and plans for your life. So as you turn the calendar, commit to turn the page and begin afresh and anew in your walk with him. Let me encourage you to join me in the 2 year Bible Reading plan. This reading plan will allow you to read the New Testament and Psalm each year and the Old Testament once over two years. The plan can also be downloaded. In close, my personal prayer is that I never rest in what I have done for the Lord over the past 20 years, but that I press on as if this is my last year to serve Him and make His love known. I hope you’ll join me in that race…

JUDGES: Fallen People, Faithful God

The book of Judges is a disturbing narrative chronicling fallen humanity in its truest sense. Sadly, not much has changed. Throughout the book we read, “everyone did what was right in their own eyes.” Join us on Sunday mornings this winter as we encounter the faithfulness of our gracious God when dealing with our fallen ways.

TESTIFY

In 2019, our theme and focus will be “Testify”. Beginning on Sunday nights in January we will examine various areas of life and the testimonies of our own members related to them. From Salvation, Addiction, Marriage, Parenting, Finance and more. We will hear how God has worked in the lives of those around you and discover how He desires to work in your life this year.

We would like to thank everyone for the delicious treats that were brought to us during the holiday. Everything was very much appreciated! Sun. January 13
