Remoji: Lesson 6 – Oct 13/14 Group Time Guide: 1-3rd Grade

Group Time Guide Supplies Needed: Set of pictures.

1. Getting Started

Tell kids to meet someone new, and talk about this question: If you could pick any color for your hair to be, which one would you choose?

2. Discussion Questions

• What problem were they having in The Source? • Can you think of a time when you felt hurt? What was it like (if you’d like to share)? • What do you think Trixie should do? What about the others? • If you were in the story, what would you tell Trixie?

3. Hands-On Option

Look Up and Read: Hebrews 12:6-7. These verses are about how God “trains” us. Do This: Show kids different pictures, and ask how you get to be good at doing those different things (examples: piano, soccer ball, math). Guide them to talk about how each one of those things takes practice and “training.” Discuss: Do you get better at any of those things by quitting, and not doing anything? (No.) Is it ever tough to train, practice, and get better? (Yes! And that’s a good thing.) Discuss: If a coach or teacher wanted you to get better at something, what would they do? (Make you practice, correct you when you make mistakes, tell you how you can do better.) Discuss: Why is God training us, according to those verses? (We are his children. He cares about us!) The Point: God loves you and has a plan, even when things are tough.

4. Wrap-Up and Prayer

Ask: What was the best part of your week? What was something tough that happened this week? Do This: Pray with the kids. Pray about things they mentioned when talking about the previous question. Mention that God always listens when we pray, because he loves us.
