Friday 18th January 2019 Dear Parents Learning update this week … This week we have looked at the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ We have talked lots about the characters. In our Maths we have looked at ‘part’ and ‘whole’ more and we have discovered lots about the numbers 11, 12 and 13. We have thought about goals we would like to achieve and made medals that we will give each other when we achieve our goals. We have started to make model houses and we enjoyed using the ipads to record different feelings. Next week we will be … Creating a story map for ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ We will also be looking at materials used to make houses and deciding if materials are strong or not. We will be having a visit from a nurse and asking her questions. We will be finishing our model houses and learning to use an app that can make objects and pictures talk. In our Maths we will be looking at subtraction and the numbers 14, 15, 16.

How can I help my child at home? Talking homework: If you could build a house using any material, what would you use? Why? Superstar learner’s homework: Can you find an interesting fact about homes around the world? Please complete the enclosed sheet with your child. Please write a comment in the box on the back of the homework letter to let us know how your child found the homework.

Hair accessories: Please can you make sure hair accessories are school colours.

Earrings: During PE children should not wear jewellery and so please can all earrings be removed on a Thursday. Children will be asked to remove them themselves if they have not been taken out. Should your child have had their ears pierced recently then you can supply your child with plasters to cover them up or we will cover them with medical tape.

Reading records I know you are all busy, but please can you let me know how your child has got on with their reading book using the reading record. Please note, I work with your child on a guided reading book in school, not their home reader book. It is important I know how they got on with the book at home, so I can develop their reading skills. Thank you for your support. Please come and speak to Mrs Mayers or Mrs Sullivan if you have any questions or e-mail [email protected] Kind regards, The Reception Team

Please comment on how your child did with their homework:
