Around the World 2018/19 with Sydney at New Year
Chairman's Welcome See Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks, lift yourself above the jungle canopy in Costa Rica and marvel at Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat… our late 2018 World Cruise will deliver you to each new destination in comfort and style, relaxed and ready for your next adventure. Departing in November, your global exploration will take you to the balmy Caribbean before docking in Cartagena de Indias, where you can tour the traffic-free, walled city by ‘coche’, the local horse-drawn carriage. Sailing into the Pacific via the newly-expanded Panama Canal brings Costa Rica, famous for its ecotourism. Your pacific itinerary includes the chance to experience the blissful paradise islands of French Polynesia over the festive period, before you berth in Sydney Harbour with a view of the bridge just in time for New Year’s Eve, the fireworks, and of course, the arrival of 2019. The journey back around the globe includes Singapore, India, the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean. Petra in Jordan, James Bond Island in Thailand, and the Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest building – in Dubai are all highlights you’ll cherish too. Prefer White Port as your aperitif, your Rioja Blanca well chilled, or your steak medium-rare? Accompanying the tantalising menu of destinations on offer, our world-class cuisine offers something for all tastes so you’re sure to be delighted in our attractive restaurants on board: dinner will be a feature of every night of your cruise. Our highly-trained staff, with their renowned attentive, personal service will endeavour to meet your every need. It is our challenge to make your circumnavigation of the globe the best it can possibly be. Rest assured, it will be a memorable and unforgettable experience. Welcome to our new World Cruise.

The Fred. Olsen difference We’re not interested in gimmicks like zip wires, climbing walls or celebrity chefs. We don’t have boastful megaships. We take immense pride in our fleet of smaller-scaled vessels that retain the style, ambience and understated quality of a country house hotel. They might not be as new as some ships, but we don’t automatically believe that younger is better; there’s a lot to be said for having the benefit of experience. With the fifth generation Fred. Olsen as Chairman, we’re led with 170 years’ worth of seafaring heritage, and we believe we’ve found the perfect formula for you to get the best out of your holiday with us.
Smaller is better A smaller ship doesn’t mean less space, far from it. Black Watch was made for longer voyages and each room is comfortably sized, with all the facilities you’ll need to enjoy your world cruise. In fact, our rooms are comparable to those on some of the mammoth cruise ships. While our vessels are on a more accessible scale, you can have just as much private space. With fewer people on board it’s easy to find a quiet spot to relax in peace with a drink or a good book. There’s room to really stretch out by the pool and unwind after discovering some of the world’s most incredible, inspirational sites. The smaller scale also makes for a warmer, more sociable atmosphere on board too – ideal for a 107-night adventure. Like-minded travellers become familiar faces and in no time you’ll be swapping stories of your adventures over dinner. You can get ashore more quickly, and when you’re ashore, you’re seeing the best of your destination with hundreds of others – not thousands – giving you a much more authentic experience.
Award-winning cruises Fred. Olsen’s staff and crew always work hard to give you the holiday of a lifetime. That this dedication has been recognised in a number of awards over the past few years, including winning 'Best for Itineraries' twice, is very rewarding. Most importantly, Fred. Olsen has a guest experience rating of 4.4 out of 5 – from independent guest reviews – along with being awarded Feefo’s Gold Trusted Merchant status, for the fourth year in a row. Perhaps that’s why more than half of guests in 2016 had travelled with Fred. Olsen before. There’s never been a better time to try the Fred. Olsen experience.

Days to inspire, evenings to remember
Food you’ll fall in love with
Your on-board experience is sure to be just as fun, memorable and enriching as your time ashore. How much or how little you join in is entirely up to you. During the day, you may find ballroom dancing lessons, theatre workshops, photography talks or entertaining quizzes, to name just a few examples, along with insightful lectures from guest speakers and experts. Take the chance to brush up on a favourite hobby or perhaps learn a new skill. The Card Room, Bookmark Café and Marina Theatre – fitted with the latest 4K, 3D technology – are popular spots too. Be sure to check out the Daily Times on board to find out what’s on.
Dining on board is sure to be one of the highlights of your holiday, combining the friendly, personal Fred. Olsen service with a range of mouth-watering options, all planned to perfection. After a day discovering the world, the award-winning cuisine is a real treat to look forward to, whether you’re indulging in a five-course á la carte dinner in the spacious Glentanar Restaurant or packing in late-night treats in the Brigadoon, Black Watch’s welcoming selfservice option. Adding an extra-special touch are two speciality dining venues, available for a small supplement. A unique and intimate experience awaits in The Black Watch Room, where juicy steaks and fresh seafood are made-to-order from a dedicated galley; while The Poolside combines the relaxing sounds of the ocean with incredible views and Mediterranean cuisine – a real feast for all the senses. Spaces at these restaurants are limited, so dinner must be booked on board in advance.
When night falls, enjoy the sparkle of cabaret, comedy and music as the evenings come alive with orchestras, pianists, entertainers and shows. There is a variety of bars and lounges on board, as well as the stylish and roomy Morning Light Pub. Simply sit back and savour it all while you enjoy your favourite tipple, or that special cocktail made just the way you like it.
Staying ship shape A Fred. Olsen World Cruise is all about rewarding yourself to the max and relaxing every step of the way, whether you’re reclining on a sun lounger, immersing yourself in the latest bestseller or watching the world go by from a bubbling Jacuzzi. But that doesn’t mean you have to stray from your usual healthy lifestyle. There are also plenty of ways to help you stay in shape, including a well-equipped Fitness Centre, swimming pools and fitness classes. There’s a golf net and a tennis court too, and you can even walk a mile breathing in the refreshing sea air: it’s just five laps of the open deck.
All menus include vegetarian dishes and a range of healthier alternatives too – you may well find it hard to choose! Should you have any special dietary requests, simply let us know at the time of booking. We’ll do our utmost to make sure your needs are met wherever we can.
If you would like a little extra pampering, the soothing Atlantis Spa offers a wide range of treatments to suit you, from manicures and hot stone massages to seaweed wraps. All
fitness classes and Atlantis Spa treatments are payable in addition to your cruise price.

Your accommodation It’s always important to select the right accommodation to suit your needs, and that’s especially the case on a World Cruise. Fortunately, each bedroom on Black Watch has ample space, with all the facilities needed to enjoy your holiday in pure comfort. A key focus of the recent refurbishment was to update the bedrooms with new bed frames and mattresses, and enhance bathrooms with contemporary fixtures and fittings, as well as creating extra storage space. You’ll find a Smart TV, hairdryer, safe, mini-bar/fridge, air conditioning, desk, phone and tea & coffee making facilities are all standard. Once a holiday hideaway for rich Romans, Pompeii was devastated by Mount Vesuvius in 79AD. Today you can view the ruins of ancient shops, homes, Roman baths and more, which have been miraculously restored over hundreds of years. Pompeii is arguably the most famous lost city of them all, and just a short trip away from Naples.
Ephesus
Kusadasi is your gateway to astonishing history at Ephesus. Wonder at the Library of Celsus and the Temple of Hadrian, before heading on to the ruins of the Temple of Artemis. This Wonder of the Ancient World, reduced to a column and a few fragments on the ground, leaves plenty to ponder about the fascinating events of centuries past.
