ABOUT EAGLE BROOK CHURCH

WHAT IS THE MICAH PROJECT? The Micah Project is Eagle Brook Church's 2014 compassion, giving and serving initiative. We are thrilled to partner with great organizations who provide support and assistance to those in need, locally, and globally. In Micah 6:8, we're told to:

"...ACT JUSTLY, LOVE MERCY, AND WALK HUMBLY WITH GOD." The heart of The Micah Project is to empower people to seek justice for those who need it, to be merciful to those less fortunate, and to humbly answer God's call to do whatever good we can with the blessings we're given. It is our hope that those participating in The Micah Project will gain a new passion for being generous, not only with their money, but with their time and hearts, as well. Together, we want to fill 12,000 Weekend Packs with meals for kids in our local schools, pack 2.5 million meals for kids around the world, and raise money to support nonprofit organizations who are doing great work locally and globally. One hundred percent of all donations will go toward helping others.

FMSC MOBILEPACK EVENTS Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian, nonprofit organization committed to feeding God’s children, hungry in body and spirit.

children all around the world. (Coon Rapids attenders are encouraged to register for MobilePack events at other campuses.)

With the help of more than 650,000 volunteers, and partnerships with more than 80 organizations, FMSC packs nutritious meals and distributes them to starving children throughout the world. Each meal is packed with soy protein, dried vegetables and 20 vitamins and minerals—everything needed for a malnourished child to recover.

We hope you'll join us for this incredible opportunity to come together with attenders and others in our communities, pack meals, have fun, and work toward the goal of feeding children hungry in body and spirit across the globe.

What started in 1987 as one location in Brooklyn Park, Minn., quickly grew to seven locations. In order to keep up with the growing need for their meals, FMSC began MobilePack events. Instead of volunteers going to a FMSC location to pack meals, FMSC now comes to them. During the week of Feb. 24-27, five Eagle Brook campuses will host MobilePack events. The goal is for 12,500 volunteers to sign up so that we can pack 2.5 million meals for

12,500 VOLUNTEERS 2.5 MILLION MEALS Together, we can impact the lives of thousands of children. Invite your friends, families, and small groups, and register for a packing shift by visiting ebcmicahproject.com.

YOUTH SHELTER

Minnesota Department of Education & Feeding America shows that 36-60 percent of children enrolled in many of the schools around our campuses are recipients of free or reduced lunches. Minnesota innercity schools’ numbers range from 70-90 percent.

More than 500 students are homeless in the Anoka-Hennepin School District as of November 2013. More than 100 of them are unaccompanied youth. These youth live in abandoned buildings, ride the bus all night, or engage in survival sex to stay warm. (HOPE Office, Anoka-Hennepin Schools)

TRAINING Our partner food shelves received training on how to write effective grants—a skill that will serve them well as they work to fund their programs and efforts to serve those in need.

9,000 BACKPACKS EBC was able to cover the cost of 9,000 backpacks and supplies that were donated to our local school districts, food shelves and inner-city churches.

$72,000 Was given to local food shelves by EBC in 2012.

15,000 PAIRS OF SHOES In December 2012, 15,000 pairs of shoes were donated by EBC attenders to Shoe Away Hunger, which translated into cash for a local ministry partner.

1,200 WEEKEND PACKS EBC began an initiative to tackle the problem of food insecurity for students in suburban schools right in our backyard. We’ve come alongside food shelves to support these families with Weekend Packs that are placed in children’s backpacks discreetly and sent home on Fridays. Between October and December 2013, 1,200 Weekend Packs were given to Centennial and White Bear Lake schools by Eagle Brook Church.

Nearly 200,000 children ages birth-17 are living in poverty in Minnesota, a 60 percent increase since 2000. In that same time period, the number of children living in extreme poverty (annual income of $11,525 for a family of four) increased by more than 100 percent. (Faces of Poverty: A United Way Report)

FUNDING CONSTRUCTION OF A CHURCH IN CITÉ SOLEIL, HAITI WITH HEALING HAITI

2,851 PEOPLE

Cité Soleil has been ranked one of the poorest and most dangerous areas in the Western Hemisphere. A 900-seat church built in the middle of this poverty, crime, and devastation could transform this community.

2,851 people have started following Jesus through the efforts of our global partners to reach people for Christ.

3 ORPHANAGES Three orphanages in Nicaragua have been partially funded.

JESUS + ME BOOKS Eagle Brook’s Jesus + Me books were translated into Spanish and Creole for those working to reach kids for Christ in Nicaragua and Haiti.

4 CHURCHES AND LEADERS SUPPORTED Eagle Brook provides financial resources and leadership development to church leaders in Ukraine.

LAUNCH THE "MOBILIZING CHURCHES FOR CHILD PROTECTION" PROJECT WITH WORLD VISION MOZAMBIQUE In Mozambique, girls are sexually and physically abused often, and it’s accepted in the community. The World Vision Mozambique project addresses these issues and educates the local church on valuing and protecting children.

PROVIDE FOOD AND BASIC MEDICAL CARE FOR CHILDREN IN NICARAGUA WITH ORPHANETWORK Thousands of children in Nicaragua live inside a dump on the outskirts of town. Their survival is based on rummaging through garbage to find plastic and aluminum that can be turned in for money to buy food. Through funding ORPHANetwork Local Church Initiatives, kids and families can be reached for Christ through holistic methods like food, health assessments, and medical care.

SHARE CHRIST’S LOVE AND FURTHER THE COMMUNITY WORK OF OUR GLOBAL PARTNERS BY SERVING ORPHANS, COMMUNITIES, LEADERS, AND CHURCHES. IT’S TIME TO GO. 2014/15
