2011 Primary Program I Know the Scriptures Are True CTR 5B 1. This year our theme in Primary has been: I know the Scriptures are true and they are the word of God. 2. In 2nd Nephi Chapter 32 verse 3, it states, “Feast upon the words of Christ; for behold the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” 3. The words of Christ help us in our daily lives. They tell us the things we should do and they help us when we face trials. 4. We receive blessings when we read the scriptures. 5. We can each know for ourselves that the scriptures are true if we listen with our hearts.

“IF I LISTEN WITH MY HEART” CTR 7B 6. The scriptures teach of Heavenly Father’s Plan for us. We lived in heaven before we came to earth. 7. Jesus Christ created this beautiful world for us to live in and we came here to live with our families. Families are central to Heavenly Father’s plan. 8. We were also sent here to receive a body and be given free agency. That means that we are free to make our own choices. 9. Heavenly Father knew we wouldn’t be perfect so he sent Jesus to help us. When Jesus died for us, he gave us the opportunity to repent for our sins. 10. If we make a wrong choice, we can repent. If we repent for our sins and live righteously, we can live with Heavenly Father and Jesus again. That’s part of His plan for us.

CTR 4A Teacher: I can follow God’s plan by11. Reading the Scriptures. 12. Saying my prayers. 13. Going to church. 14. Being baptized. 15. Getting confirmed and receiving the Holy Ghost. 16. Partaking of the Sacrament. 17. Repenting when I make a mistake. 18. Preparing to go to the temple. 19. Preparing to serve a mission.

“I Will Follow God’s Plan For Me” 20. Communicating with Heavenly Father can help us to stay pure. When we pray, we talk to Him. He hears and answers our prayers.

Sunbeam C Teacher: In sunbeams this year we learned that when we say our prayers we: 21. Fold our arms. 22. Kneel down. 23. Bow our head. 24. Close our eyes. 25. Are reverent. 26. Speak to Heavenly Father.

Sunbeam A Teacher: We have also learned that when we say our prayers we can thank Heavenly Father for many things. Some things that we are thankful for are: 27. Scriptures. 28. The Gospel. 29. Temples. 30. Primary. 31. My Home. 32. Food. 33. My Family and Friends.

Sunbeam B Teacher: After saying what we are thankful for we then ask Heavenly Father for different things. We can ask Heavenly Father to: 34. Be healthy. 35. Help me Choose the Right. 36. Be nice. 37. Be a good example. 38. Bless the missionaries. 39. Keep me safe. 40. Bless the prophet.

“A Child’s Prayer” CTR 4B Teacher: In class we have discussed scripture stories this year. Some of our favorite scripture stories are:

We also have learned that by studying the scriptures it can help protect us against the evils of the world. In Ephasians Chapter 6 Verse 11 we are told “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against….the devil.”

“Scripture Power” CTR 7A 52. Heavenly Father speaks to us through his prophets. We are led by a living prophet today. He is Thomas S. Monson. There is safety in following the prophet. 53. Doctrine and Covenants Section 1 verse 38 says: “What I the Lord have spoken, I have spoken, and I excuse not myself; and though the heavens and the earth pass away, my word shall not pass away, but shall all be fulfilled, whether by mine own voice or by the voice of my servants, it is the same.” 54. Our prophet speaks to us in many ways. We have General Conference twice a year where the First Presidency, General Authorities and other leaders speak to us to teach us about Gospel principles. 55. I have learned many things from Thomas S. Monson. _______________________ (Give an example of something you learned from the prophet and how it has helped you in your daily life) 56. I have followed our Prophet’s counsel by __________________. (Give an example of something Pres. Monson has spoken about recently and ho you followed his teachings.) 57. “Stand for the Right” CTR 6A 58. Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. 59. Jesus Christ lived a perfect life when He was on the earth. He obeyed all of the commandments and He treated everyone with kindness and loveJesus is the perfect example and I’m trying to be like Him. 60. Jesus Christ loves us so much that He willingly gave His life so that we may return to live with Him again someday.

61. The Atonement of Christ allows each of us the opportunity to be saved from our sins. 62. When we sin, we become unclean. In the scriptures we are taught that “…no unclean thing can dwell with God...” Christ’s Atonement gives us a chance to repent of our sins. The Atonement cleanses us and makes it possible for us to be forgiven. 63. I know that Jesus Christ was resurrected and I will be too. 64. I love Jesus and I’m thankful for His Atoning sacrifice.

“Third Article of Faith” Valiant 10A and Valiant 10B 65. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored in these Latter days, by the prophet Joseph Smith. 66. The 6th Article of Faith says, “We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.” 67. Nearly 200 years ago when Joseph Smith was only a few years older than I am, he wondered which church he should join. He carefully studied the Bible in his search for the truth. Joseph knew the scriptures were true. 68. Joseph Smith read in James Chapter 1 verse 5: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” 69. After reading and pondering James, he decided to ask God which church he should join. Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. 70. Joseph Smith testified, “I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other— This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” 71. He was told not to join any of them. That was the beginning of the Restoration of the Gospel on earth. 72. After being taught by Moroni for several years, Joseph Smith received the gold plates.

“The Golden Plates” (Just having a few older kids sing) 73. With help from our Father in Heaven, he translated the gold plates into the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. 74. Heavenly Father restored the Priesthood to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and he is the prophet of the Restoration. 75. The Priesthood is the power of God, bestowed upon those who are worthy to act in God’s name.

76. In Doctrine & Covenants section 135 verse 3 we read, “Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it…He lived great and he died great in the eyes of God and his people; and like most of the Lord’s anointed in ancient times, has sealed his mission and his works with his own blood…” 77. We have all been blessed by the work that Joseph Smith and other prophets have done. As a Primary, we pray that each of you feasts on the words of Christ by reading the scriptures daily as Joseph Smith did.

“Praise to the Man” Congregation join in for verse 2 and 4 78. The Church of Jesus Christ has been restored to Earth. Joseph Smith is the prophet of the Restoration of the Gospel. He translated the Book of Mormon, which is another testament of Jesus Christ. 79. The priesthood has also been restored. That means that sacred ordinances can be performed again on Earth. Worthy priesthood holders can baptize others, confirm them a member of the church and give them the gift of the Holy Ghost.

“Fourth Article of Faith” CTR 5A 85. God has commanded his people to build temples. 86. The temple is a house of God. 87. Our families are blessed through sacred temple ordinances. 88. I am grateful for my eternal family. 89. I like the feeling I get when I visit the temple with my family. 90. I can prepare to go into the temple now by reading my scriptures and gaining a testimony of the gospel. 91. There are many temples spread throughout the world. 92. I am thankful the Gilbert, Arizona Temple is being built so close to my home.

Valiant 9 93. In Doctrine and Covenants Section 124 verse 40 it reads “And verily I say unto you, let this house be build unto my name, that I may reveal mine ordinances therein unto my people.” 94. One important ordinance we know is that when we are married in the temple, our family is sealed together for time and all eternity. 95. In The Family: A Proclamation to the World we read, “Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally.” 96. This year we have learned that we can prepare now to be worthy to go the temple by living the Gospel Standards. 97. Some of the Gospel Standards we have learned about are: I will honor my parents and do my part to strengthen my family. 98. I will remember my baptismal covenant and listen to the Holy Ghost. 99. I will be honest with Heavenly Father, others, and myself.

“I Love to See the Temple” CTR 6B 100. 1st Corinthians chapter 3 verses 16 & 17 read, “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? …The temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” 101. My body was created by Heavenly Father. It is a sacred gift and I will keep it pure and clean. 102. Our bodies are temples and we need to treat them right. 103. When I dress modestly I can have the Holy Ghost as my constant companion. 104. Dressing modestly shows respect for Heavenly Father and for myself. 105. Living the Word of Wisdom shows respect for our bodies also. 106. Following the Word of Wisdom blesses us with a healthy body, a strong mind, and the guidance of the Holy Ghost. 107. We live in a world with a lot of temptation. We need to do our best to keep the Holy Ghost as our constant companion. 108. We should only read, watch, and listen to wholesome things in order to keep our minds clean and pure. 109. The 13th Article of Faith states, “If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.”

110. “The gospel shall be preached unto every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” Doctrine & Covenants sections 133 verse 37. 111. I can be a missionary now by being a good example to others. 112. I can also be a missionary now by inviting friends to church activities. 113. Missionary Story 114. I can prepare now to go on a mission when I am older by living the gospel standards. 115. I can prepare now to go on a mission by learning to be obedient. 116. I also can prepare now to go on a mission by doing service for others. 117. Missionary work blesses everyone as the gospel is preached throughout the world. 118. Doctrine and Covenants section 4 verse 2-3 reads “Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind, and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work.”
