If you have a disability placard or license plate, we will have two rows of handicapped parking reserved in the Baxter 4 Parking Lot (south of the North Campus Research Complex buildings.) We encourage you to come earlier to enjoy the Celebration Expo activities, which open at 7:00 am. *Anyone who is not running with a Girls on the Run participant will want to be at the starting line by 8:50 am. What time should we arrive on Sunday if we have not picked up our packets yet? Packet Pick-Up will be open from 7:00 am – 8:45 am on Sunday morning. The lines are often long so we encourage you to arrive early to give yourself plenty of time to park, get water and use the restroom. What time do the roads close for the 5k? Road closures will begin at 8:45 am. All roads of the 5k route will be completely closed to vehicle traffic as long as 5k participants are on the route, or until 10:45 am. These road closures will be monitored and enforced by University of Michigan’s Department of Public Safety. They will re-open Baxter Road to allow for participants/attendees to exit these parking areas once the last participant has turned onto Hubbard Road (at the 1 mile mark, estimated at 10:00 am.)

My daughter is a Girls on the Run participant, what should she wear? Girls on the Run participants must wear their green program t-shirt and running shoes. Teams often choose to wear something to help them stand out in the crowd! What should I bring? We encourage you to bring a water bottle. We encourage you to make and bring signs to show your support and enthusiasm. Don’t forget your cameras and video recording devices. We love when families share their photos and videos with us! Where do spectators go? You are invited to cheer on the participants at the start, along the course and the finish. The route this year loops back so that you can potentially see your runner 3 times and only have to walk ¼ mile! You may congratulate your runner once they have exited the finish chute and then proceed to the Team Meet-Up Area or Celebration Expo together. How do I know where to line up at the starting line? We have four waves at our starting line; our GOTR participants will have a sticker on the front of their bib to indicate their wave. Families and community runners who are joining us are welcome to join whichever wave they’d prefer. Can we bring pets? Please do not bring pets to the 5k event to ensure a safe morning for all! Are jogging strollers allowed on the course? Absolutely! We just ask that you line up at the back of your starting wave, to ensure your safety and the safety of the other participants. What if it rains, storms or snows? If it is at all possible (even in the rain or snow!) we will continue to have the event. The event will be cancelled by 8:00am if the weather is too severe and it is not safe for participants to run. It will NOT be rescheduled. Please subscribe to our facebook page and/or find us on twitter (@GOTRSEMI) for a cancellation announcement. What if my daughter or someone else gets hurt? If it is a medical emergency, call 911. For non-emergency medical treatment, find the nearest event volunteer- they will be wearing yellow volunteer shirts to access medical assistance. The volunteer will call for medical staff assist. There will be an American Red Cross medical tent at the finish line, Emergency Medical Technicians from Huron Valley Ambulance service on bikes throughout the course and volunteer course marshals along the entire 5k route. Huron Valley Ambulance service will be on site at all times in case of an emergency. How do I find my daughter after the 5k event? We strongly encourage you to register to run/walk with your daughter. Participating with her is a great way to model healthy behavior and support her in achieving her goal. If you, or someone else from your family, are unable to participate with your daughter, let her coach know. Each team will have a coach who will be a 'sweeper' and stay with the very last girl to ensure that every girl on their team has finished the 5k. We have course marshals all along the 3.1-mile course to

ensure that our participants are supervised at all times. We encourage you to make a meet-up plan with your girl prior to the event so you both know where to go when she finishes. What if I cannot find my daughter/parent? Go to the pink Girls on the Run tent in the Team Meet Up Area’s parking lot. This is the Information table and a volunteer will arrange for an announcement to be made over the sound system. Every GOTR participant will also have her parent/guardian’s name and phone number on the back of her bib number, and the Information volunteer will have a phone available to call that number to reach the parent/guardian listed. What time will the event finish? We encourage spectators and participants to stay and cheer on the finishers until WonderGirl crosses the finish line. This teaches our girls to support her teammates and practice good sportsmanship. We encourage you to celebrate with your daughter at our Celebration Expo next to the finish line and Team Meet-Up Area. There will be family-fun activities and interactive sponsor booths open until 11:00 am. Where can we purchase photographs of the event? We have professional photographers, volunteers and staff taking pictures. We have large GOTR letters and props that are a perfect for photos of your 5k finisher and her team. After the event we will post photos from our photographers on our flickr page and on our Girls on the Run of Southeastern Michigan facebook page. Our facebook and Instagram (@gotrsemi) pages are also a great place for you to share your pictures (and stories) with us!

When approaching a water station, grab a cup of water while being aware of other runners who may be passing through. Please do not stop. If you need to slow down wait until after the water station and then move to your right to walk.

If you see a person who needs medical attention, please alert a course marshal or a member of the Huron Valley Ambulance EMT bike team on the route.

At the finish line please be aware that other runners are coming up behind you and do not stop abruptly. Once you receive your medal please proceed through the post-event refreshment station and then celebrate with your friends and family once you are out of the finishers’ chute.

No dogs may accompany runners/walkers in the 5k for the safety of our two-footed and four-footed friends.

No bicycles are allowed on the 5k course (except for designated EMTs and course leads).

Participants may run or walk with a stroller but they must start at the back of their starting wave and stay to the right if faster participants are passing them.     Encourage other runners and thank our volunteers! Have fun!
