The Dallas Sports Commission exceeded $443 million in economic impact from the games, competitions and exhibitions that made their way to Dallas while hosting more than 744,000 fans and participants in 2016. BIG events like WrestleMania and the Dallas Sports Festival helped bring worldwide media attention and thousands of visitors to our great city. The aim of the DSC is to identify and bid on potential events and perform many functions that are often required of a host city that are essential for the success and growth of sporting events, competitions and meetings. Monday Night Raw, the longest-running weekly episodic program in television history closed out WrestleMania Week with the fallout from WrestleMania 32 at the American Airlines Center.
WrestleMania, the annual pop-culture extravaganza of the WWE, electrified AT&T Stadium on April 3 with an eventrecord crowd of 101,763. Fans from around the world were not disappointed as WWE Superstars The Rock, Roman Reigns, The Undertaker and Charlotte led an action packed show. WrestleMania Week consisted of many other community and sports entertainment events, including: WrestleMania Axxess, a one-of-a-kind, interactive fan festival, giving the WWE Universe their greatest chance to meet their favorite Superstars, Divas & Legends. Hall of Fame - WWE celebrated its heroes of yesterday with the 2016 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 2 at the American Airlines Center.
WWE in the Community - As part of WrestleMania Week, WWE and its Superstars hosted numerous community events in North Texas. These included: • WWE and partner First Book granted local “book wishes” to 59 schools and programs in Dallas, Arlington and Fort Worth. In total, nearly 50,000 brand-new books were provided as part of the WrestleMania Reading Challenge • Veteran Career Panel & Networking Event with Hire Heroes USA at the George W.
