ELT Meeting Minutes February 19, 2019 Attendees: Pastor Matthew St. John, Pastor Paul Schoolmeesters, Jeff Westman, Saado Abboud, Jerry Hoffman, Armando Mazon, Zach O’Neel, Jim Fultz, Cort Cieminski, Jot Turner, Dan Johnson, Ken Young, Steve Grosser, Absent: Tony Ringsmuth The meeting was opened in prayer by chairman Jeff Westman. Leadership Development Studies - Pastor Matthew St. John Pastor Matthew St. John invited each man to read a psalm aloud turning the I's and me's to We's and us, directing these toward Jesus: Psalms 20:1-9, 43:1-5, 69:6-18, 70:1-5, 121:1-8, 123:1-4, 133:1-3, 138:1-8, 91:1-8, 91:9-16, 90:12-17, 146:1-10 Senior Staff Report - Pastor Justin Wevers (Student Ministries) - Pastor Justin is leaving to assume a national role with the EFCA. He shared a few thoughts on his time at New Hope Church and student ministries. Our Gospel centered approach, he stated, allowed for a focus on teaching and a dependence on the Holy Spirit to change lives. It required less focus on "baby sitting" and entertainment, these activities becoming then a context for building relationships. - Pastor Justin expressed deep appreciation of the opportunity to just be himself, build a team and set a course. The team that remains is "undermanned but fully attended by the Lord.” They are capable and faithful, a fact that eases the pain of transition for Justin. - Justin and his family will join Pastor Jeremy and Gospel Life in the Marcy Holmes Community. The ELT gathered around Justin to lift him and his family to the Lord’s keeping.

Call to Order and Approval of Minutes - Jeff Westman - The meeting was called to order by Chair Jeff Westman. - Minutes from the January 15, 2019 meeting were approved with minor corrections.

Senior Associate Pastor’s Report - Pastor Paul Schoolmeesters A. Financial Update - In brief, attendance has declined 7-8 % year over year. Giving is at 96.2% of budget, $162,000 behind giving last year. Spending at 88.6% 0f budget. While cashflow remains at an ok place, caution is warranted. - Budgeting materials are being distributed on the 16th. The giving forecast for 2019-20 proposes a reduction from current giving levels. Finance Committee will be meeting next week to establish the overall target budget figure. All departments have been asked to make 10% reduction in expenses. B. Facilities / Property Council - Review and discussion of the Facilities Feasibility Study has been deferred to March. C. Staffing / Ministries - Student Ministries: Pastor Jon Kimmel will assume an interim role following Justin’s departure. A survey of senior staff, student ministries staff and key lay leaders will be utilized to give direction to the transition process. Sunday the 24th there will be an all church open house with Pastors Matthew and Justin on the platform together at 9:30 followed by a 12:30 PM reception.

Worship Ministries: The administrative responsibilities in support of Pastor Dayton are currently split between multiple people. Some adjustment in roles and assignment is underway with a view to creating one part-time role.

Senior Pastor’s Report - Pastor Matthew St. John A. Vision Dashboard Overview Pastor Matthew briefly reviewed the dashboard with no updates from last month. Old Business A. 2019 Senior Pastor Evaluation Update By way of simple information the Board was reminded that 2019 Senior Pastor Evaluation was to be discussed between Pastor Matthew, Board Chair and Vice Chair. New Business A. 2019 Elder Board Self-Evaluation Intro The ELT will be receiving the board’s annual internal evaluation to complete. Responses will be compiled and reviewed at a future ELT meeting. Upcoming Elder Meetings A. March 19, 2019 - 7pm B. April 16, 2019 - 7pm C. April 23, 2019 - Budget Approval Meeting Share and Closing Prayer The meeting was closed in a time of prayer.
