We will give thanks to you, O Lord, with our whole heart; we will tell of all your wonderful deeds. We will be glad and exult in you, our God; we will sing praise to your gracious and glorious name, O Most High.

* Hymn 103

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

ST. DENIO

* Doxology 95

OLD 100th

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him, all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly host. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

* Hymn 508

Faith, While Trees Are Still in Blossom

* Sermon Text

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

This is the Word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

Sermon

Voices in the Night:

The Voice of Purpose

* Hymn 419

Congregational Prayer

Norah Elizabeth Yearry arr. Robert Sterling

(8:30) Rev. Carl Palmer (10:45) Rev. Tony Holifield

We are not always sure how to listen, O God. You speak to us in unexpected places and sometimes with unexpected voices. We can be confused about who to listen to, and unsure if we’re really hearing your voice. Dear Lord, please help us to hear you and to see your will. Give us the challenge of loving you and of loving one another, for you are a universal God who loves us all, even when we don’t love ourselves. In Jesus’ name we ask it. Amen.

Silent Prayer Pastoral Prayer & Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
