21-DAY FASTING AND PRAYER EXPERIENCE

Join us from Saturday, January 5 through Friday, January 25, 2019 as we take a journey for 21 days as a church and go deeper in our connection with God. Email Pastor Todd HERE and let us know if you are joining with us so we can pray for you during this time. You will also receive emails from Pastor Todd at different points during the fast to encourage you. Here are some suggested reading plans during your 21-day prayer and fast. We highly suggest making a Bible Reading Plan a daily part of your Fasting Experience. Authentic Fasting 21-day Fasting and Daily Devotional The Daniel Plan Authentic Prayer 21 Days of Prayer

Life-Changing Prayers

What Is Biblical Fasting? Biblical fasting is a spiritual discipline of refraining from something that satisfies and replacing it with focused time spent with God and God’s word in order to develop a greater desire for, dependence upon or satisfaction in God alone! 16 And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces that their fasting may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. - Matthew 6:16-18 (ESV)

Why Should We Fast? To renew our desire for a deeper relationship with God. We are finding our satisfaction in something other than our relationship with God. We are desperate for freedom from a stronghold in our lives.

How Should We Fast? Fast From Food - Specific Food (ie. sugar, bread, etc) Specific Drink (ie. anything with sugar, alcohol, soda) Specific Meal (fast from lunch) The Daniel Fast Consult your doctor before entering into any period of time of change in your current level or type of food or calorie intake. Fast From Technology - Time away from smartphone or other device. Time away social media or the internet. Time away from gaming.

The Purpose of Fasting is More of God

The byproduct of fasting may be a simpler lifestyle, changes in your physical appearance, improved health, deeper or restored relationships, or broken habits but we must always keep in mind that the PURPOSE of fasting is really about connecting with and realizing our desperate need for more of God! Psalm 63:1 - O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. - Psalm 63:1 (ESV)
