God Changed Jacob BIBLE STORY SUMMARY: • Isaac and his wife Rebekah had twin boys named Esau and Jacob. • Jacob tricked Isaac into blessing him instead of Esau. • God promised Jacob the same things He promised Abraham and Isaac. • A man appeared to Jacob and wrestled with him all night. • God changed Jacob’s name to Israel. • Jacob lived in the land God promised his family. CHRIST CONNECTION: God changed Jacob’s life and gave him a new name, Israel. By dying and rising from the dead, Jesus made the way for us to be adopted into God’s family. When we trust in Jesus, we get a new name, too—children of God. KEY PASSAGE: Psalm 135:6 BIG PICTURE QUESTION: Who is in control of everything? God is in control of everything.
