EXAM FAQ’S What do I need to have done before i sit the exam? • Read all 3MAC Course material
Can I use MS Excel? Yes, so long as it is an entirely new workbook.
• Completed assignments Weeks 1 to 11. • Viewed 3MAC Videos Weeks 1 to 11
When is it held? The exam will be held each quarter.
Where is it held? Online
What can I bring into the exam? • 3MAC Course material • Accounting & Finance Text books • Dictionary
Can I phone a friend? No phone calls must be made or taken until after finalisation of the exam.
How long is it? When you first access the online exam, you will be asked to enter your name and email address. You will then be directed to the instructions page, with will set out details as to the exam. At the bottom of the instruction page, there is a ‘CONTINUE’ button. The exam will be 3 hours from the time you click this button, and you can proceed with your exam. At the top left corner below the banner, you will see a timer showing the amount of time that you have left.

Can someone help me do it? No, the exam must be done by the student sitting the exam. No discussion is permitted.
Can I use the internet to find answers to my questions? No, apart from logging in to the online exam, the internet should not be utilised further.

Can I leave the room during the exam? Yes, you may leave the room for breaks. However note that you will lose time as the 3 hours cannot be paused, or interrupted.
Who supervises it? The exam should be supervised by your manager or the person that you report to.
Will I get my mark? Yes, you will be provided with a mark out of one hundred, expressed as a percentage.
Will I get my answers back, showing where I went wrong? No, due to the confidentiality of the exam, answers will not be returned.
Can I resit it, if I fail the first time? Yes, you may re-sit the exam if you fail to pass.
Who else will know my mark? If your 3MAC course has been provided by your employer, they will also be advised of your result, unless otherwise expressly requested in writing with your employer’s consent.
There are a few of us doing 3MAC in our locality; can we all sit it together? Yes, others may sit the exam with you. However there must be no discussion or sharing of answers between students.
Can we take food/drink into the exam? Food and drink may be taken into the exam room, so long as it is non-disruptive.

Do I need to review all the material (workbooks and assignments) before the exam? Yes, you should be familiar with all the 3MAC course material.
What happens if I have failed some of the assignments? Do I need to pass these before I sit the exam? Yes, we would recommend that you have passed all of the 3MAC assignments prior to sitting the exam.
When does my enrolment expire? For those that subscribed to 3MAC only before July 2012 we have extended the enrolment until 31st January 2013. Full Business Subscription is 12 months, and again, if they subscribed before January 2012 we have extended their subscription to 31st January 2013.
Do I lose access to the FC website once my 3MAC enrolment expires? Yes, whether you are on an individual enrolment, or a business subscription, the Finance Coach website, won’t be accessible once your enrolment/ subscription has expired.
What tips can you give me to help? Being able to practically apply the knowledge and principles that you have gained will be the key to passing the exam. You have come a very long way since commencing 3MAC. We trust that you have found the course a very enlightening and rewarding experience.

Now the test is as to how much you can put into practice. Wouldn’t it be great if you achieved most of the key outcomes of the course? You are now far more familiar with a set of financial statements.
Can you answer yes to these questions? If you can, you have got a very good chance of succeeding in this final step in the completion of 3MAC.
• Can you apply financial ratios, to analyse a set of financial statements?
We can say with confidence, that you will never regret having the knowledge you have gained. What you have learnt in 3MAC will help you for the rest of your life – financially, personally, and the benefits will flow into any business in which you operate.
• Are you more comfortable with the bookkeeping side, such as reconciliations and verification of transactions?
