From Our Pastor

If you are our guest, we have a special gift for you after today’s service. So that we can get to know you better, please fill out both sides of this tear-off section and bring it to the Information Center near the columns. We have a gift bag ready for you.

Welcome to First Baptist Church! We welcome those who may be at First Baptist for the first time. We trust you will find us friendly. More importantly, we pray God would use this worship time to draw you closer to Him. We would also encourage you to try one of our small -group Sunday School classes. You can find information about these classes and lots of other news about First Baptist at our Information Center.

We are studying through the Minor Prophets. We will devote one Sunday (one message) to each of the 12 Minor Prophets. Our goal is going to be to discover that central core message of the book. Today, we are examining the Book of Jonah. Jonah’s story is probably the best known story of all of the prophets of the Old Testament, but do we know the reason for the story? We have had wonderful participation in our Do Something Focus Group meetings. You have one more opportunity to participate in one of these initial focus groups. If you have not been able to attend one of the earlier meetings, please join us today at 4:30 p.m. in Assembly Room 1. A month from now, we will have important national and local elections. It goes without saying that we should be prayerful about this election season as well as other elections impacting us. Let me encourage each of us in the midst of constant election rhetoric, that is often more emotional than factual, to use this campaign period as a time of pleading with God for spiritual awakening to come to our nation. Only when we get as serious about our praying as we do about our politics will we see the real hope for our country.
