Do you ever “dress rehearse” tragedy?” In other words, when do you let yourself worry and stress over something that might happen? Read 1 John 1:1-4 1. What does it mean to you to know that Jesus’ close friend, the Apostle John, saw and heard and touched Jesus? 2. v. 3 says John proclaimed this news so that we can have fellowship with God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. How are you experiencing fellowship with God and Jesus in your life today? 3. Talk about some things you can start doing this Christmas season to enhance your fellowship with Jesus. 4. Believing that the Christmas story is TRUE and experiencing FELLOWSHIP with Jesus should result in JOY, but Ben reminded us that JOY is something that most of us have to practice on a regular basis. 5. Talk about ways that gratitude for the gift of Jesus and all the blessings God gives can result in JOY. Action Steps: 1. Take a few minutes inside your group to write out a prayer of gratitude to Jesus. 2. Pray for one another to commit to recording one thing you are grateful for each day from now until Christmas and asking God to use your gratitude list to help you experience greater JOY.
