Small Group Discussion Questions Read Philippians 3:1-9 1. As a bridge from chapter 2, why do you think Paul would start this section with telling the Philippians to rejoice in the Lord? How is choosing joy connected to verse 3 where he encourages the Philippians to place no confidence in the flesh? 2. In the weekend message, Ben talked about our tendency to live beneath our spiritual privileges. Read verse 9 again. What are some ways we try to secure our own righteousness instead of receiving the righteousness that comes from God? 3. How does living beneath our spiritual privileges impact our growth in Christ? Read Philippians 3:10-16 1. What do you think it means to know Christ “in the power of his resurrection?” To know him in the “fellowship of sharing in his sufferings?” 2. In verse 12, we are encouraged to “take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of you.” Ben referred to this as our calling from God. How would you describe your personal calling from God? If you struggle to answer this question, what would help you to identify your calling? 3. Why is forgetting what is in the past key to moving ahead in our Christian life? 4. How is Unfinished shaping what we strain towards individually and as a church? Read Philippians 3:17-21 1. Why could Paul confidently ask others to follow his example? How might we do the same? 2. Where have you witnessed those who live as enemies of the cross of Christ? How might Christ followers also be tempted to live this way? 3. How does it help to remember that we are citizens of heaven? Wrap Up 1. Ben talked about ways to view our finances and God’s reward

a. A = I need 100% of my resources to reach my Goals b. B = I partner with God - 90% for me + 10% to God to reach my goals c. C = I partner with God and he takes me past what I thought was my goal to something I hadn’t even imagined 2. Talk over how you view your finances in light of these examples. Why is it hard to reach the place where you partner with God in regard to finances? How have you seen God respond with “C” results as you partner with Him 3. What changes you have seen in your life over the last 12 months of Unfinished that reflect how God is at work inside you?
