Course Overview

Students will develop their abilities to spell for academic excellence, increase their knowledge and use of vocabulary, and appreciate and recite poetry.

Course Responsibilities

Students will be expected to complete spelling homework and workbook pages as well as memorize and recite or write poetry.

Students will learn the spelling and meaning of words. Students will use words correctly in their spoken and written language. Students will learn spelling rules that will enable students to spell many more words than those in the weekly lists. Students will enjoy and appreciate good poetry. Students will read and recite poetry with good expression.

Course Curriculum

Spelling, Vocabulary, & Poetry 6 by ABeka Book

Supplies Needed

black ink pen, red ink pen (pink, purple, and green accepted), and hi-lighter

Course Requirements

Students will complete daily homework and workbook pages. Students will pass weekly quizzes and tests. Students will memorize and recite or write poems.

Homework Policy (per SPPA Student Handbook)

If a student does not complete a homework assignment on time, 50% will be deducted from the assignment. After two periods a zero will be recorded as well as a detention. Detentions are assigned for Tuesday or Thursday morning at 7:00 a. m.

Classroom Code of Conduct
