Star Struck: Lesson 3 – April 6/7 Group Time Guide: 4-5th Grade

Group Time Guide Supplies Needed: Story starting cards.

1. Getting Started Tell kids to meet someone new, and talk about this question: What’s your favorite book or movie?

2. Discussion Questions • Why do you think Gabby is putting so much pressure on the others? (Could point out that she’s probably feeling stressed out herself.) • What did they mean when they talked about Gabby’s “story”? (Her story means the things that have happened to Gabby- her life.) • Who is someone you love to talk to? What makes them great to talk to?

3. Hands-On Option Look Up and Read: Isaiah 43:1-4. These verses are a message from God to His people. God feels this way about you! He knows your name, what you’re going through, and you are priceless to Him. Say This: We’re going to tell a story, all together. I’ll read one of these cards, which will start the story off. Then, we’ll go around the circle, and keep telling the story. The catch is, you can only say one word on your turn! We’ll have to keep the story going, one word at a time. Do This: Have fun making up a random story with the kids! Go around the group, encouraging every kid to add a word to the story. If the word is inappropriate, you may ask the kid to choose another word. The Point: Stories are very important, and every one of us has a different one. Your story, the things that have happened to you, the things you love, and the things that make you sad, all of that is so important to Jesus. That’s why He’s the greatest leader ever, you matter so much to Him.

4. Wrap-Up and Prayer Ask: What was the best part of your week? What was something tough that happened this week? Do This: Pray with the kids. If they’ve mentioned things that would be good to talk to God about, you can talk about them in your prayer.
