WELCOME ANNOUNCEMENTS PIANO MEDITATION

Nicene Creed

Remember the Jordan Joshua 3-4

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

- Gay Kramm

CALL TO WORSHIP (based on Psalm 114) When Israel went forth from Egypt, Judah became His sanctuary, Israel, His dominion. The sea looked and fled; the Jordan turned back. What ails you, O sea, that you flee? O Jordan, that you turn back? Tremble, O earth, before the Lord, before the God of Jacob, who turned the rock into a pool of water, the flint into a fountain of water.

HYMN OF INVOCATION I Sing the Mighty Power of God

PRAYER OF INVOCATION S CRIPTURE READING Deuteronomy 5:6-21

CORPORATE CONFESSION OF S IN (prayed together)

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

Heavenly Father, we confess and sincerely acknowledge before You that we are poor sinners, conceived and born in iniquity, prone to do evil, and incapable of any good. We transgress Your holy commandments daily and throughout each day. Therefore, we ask You, by Your grace, to relieve our distress! Blot out our sin and magnify in us day by day the grace of Your Holy Spirit. Hear now our private confessions of sins.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets; and we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church; we acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

GOSPEL KIDS Gospel Kids resumed last Wednesday. This year we’ll be going through the book of Acts to awaken our kids to the wonderful news that Jesus is still working today, seeking and drawing the lost to Himself and building them up through the preaching of the gospel the apostles taught us.

ADULT BIBLE STUDY We are studying the book of Hebrews. Come enjoy this mid-week refresher in God’s Word as Christ continues to work in your heart and life. Adults high-school aged and up are welcome to join this midweek study.

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The river dried up!

First purpose: to exalt Joshua

Second purpose: so we'd remember God is mighty and fear Him alone

Sunday school for all ages starts at 9:30AM, before the worship service. Adults meet downstairs; kids meet upstairs. This fall the adult class will study the basics of the Christian faith. While the class will be entry level (in the sense not assuming any familiarity with Christian doctrine), it is designed for all believers. Even as mature believers, we need to recalibrate our faith. We believe you’ll be edified and encouraged in your faith and walk with Christ! Middle- and high-school aged kids are invited to join the adult class with their parents.

EVENING WORSHIP Evening worship has resumed. Like morning worship, evening worship is designed to be restful. Come sit and rest and let Christ work in your heart and life to refresh and strengthen you. Join us at 5:00PM to close out this wonderful day God has given us in communion with Christ!

JESSICA & JOSEPH’S WEDDING Date: October 30, 2021 Time: 11:00AM Planning to attend? Please RSVP directly to Jessica/Joseph or to [email protected].

PASTORAL PRAYER *Please see ‘Opportunities to Give’ under this week at Bethel. S PECIAL O FFERING : For October “Coats for Mitchell Students”

Crews are finishing up painting. Flooring, doors, trim, and cabinets for the Sunday school rooms are on order, but have not yet arrived due to supply chain shortages. As soon as they arrive, they'll be able to finish the project. Some materials may arrive before others. Thanks for your continued patience!

Give thanks that God has given us both a contractor and an insurance adjuster who understand and support our mission to spread the good news so lost sinners like us grow in Christ! They know our church isn’t just a building.

MISSION STATEMENT

.

Karen: is battling primary peritoneal carcinoma. Dave and Karen continue to express gratitude for all the love and prayers. Karen is tolerating the new chemo she has been receiving. Please pray that God would use this new kind of chemo to eradicate the cancer. Please also pray that Karen would tolerate it well.

Justin Butterfield: had COVID while in Chicago with his family. Justin and Alie are now home. Justin still experiences fatigue and breathing issues, but he plans to begin working from home this week. Please pray he’d continue to recover and have strength to work.

Because the gospel of Christ changes everything, our mission is to spread the gospel of Christ so that Bethel Church, North Dallas, and the world grow in Him.

Katie’s friends Josh and Val:

Josh has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He has been very weak as a result of the treatments he is undergoing and is sleeping a lot due to his body being depleted. He will have two more smaller chemo treatments through September and then will start radiation in December. Pray that God would sustain him and his family and draw them to Himself.
