CHURCH ANNOUNCEMENTS

[email protected] 371-1597

GAME ON…The regular season is about to kick off and we want you to become a team player in serving at Shalom. Don’t stand on the sideline! You will have opportunity to take possession, huddle up, and join the team! Meet us on the field following the morning service on Sunday, August 26 for a Shalom Ministry Fair. Come see how you can help tackle or cover a task before the ball gets dropped. Players like you are what gives Shalom the forward progress it needs to provide complete coverage for all our ministries. We can’t score touchdowns without you! Don’t fumble the opportunity to make a big score for Shalom’s ministries. SHALOM PHONE DIRECTORY - It’s time to update the Shalom phone directory!  A table is set up in the fellowship hall with the current directory. Please review your family’s listing and edit your listing as necessary. If no changes are needed, please mark O.K. next to your name. Anyone who attends regularly, but is not a member and would like to be included in the directory is welcome to add their name and information. DEADLINE FOR WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS is Wednesday by 8:00am.

DEADLINE FORREQUESTS WEEKLY ANNOUNCEMENTS is Wednesday by 8:00am. PRAYER   

Pray for Kathy Banyai as she will have a third knee scope/manipulation on her knee on August 10 to remove scar tissue and to attempt to gain more knee flexion. Please pray that this manipulation would be her last and that the scar tissue would not grow back and cause pain and stiffness in the knee. Pray for peace for her during the surgery and recovery process. Pray for Linda Vis who has been recently diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. Surgery went well, and they feel they were able to remove 99% of the cancer. She will begin chemo in 30-40 days. Pray for God’s almighty healing for Linda. We rejoice with Evan and Jordan Fey in the birth of Joessa Ann who was born Friday, July 27.

SAY CHEESE! It is the time of year again to update our picture directory. If you would like to provide a picture or update your current one, please email them to Sarah Lieuwen or put a hard copy in her box. Hard copies will be returned. LAST SUMMER GAME NIGHT – Join us Sunday, August 19 from 6-8pm at Lions Park (just north of church on Southeastern) for a time of fellowship and yard games. Kids are welcome, but note there will not be organized supervision. Snacks will be provided. No need to sign up, just show up! Feel free to bring a favorite game along to share. This is our last game night for the summer. We would love to have you there. This is for people of ALL ages. The games are not physical, we play beanbag toss, ladder ball, and yard Yahtzee, just to name a few. We hope you will join us. FREE PRODUCE – Stop by the table in the fellowship hall and choose from some locally grown produce. Gardeners, if you have produce that you would like to share with the congregation, please feel free to put it on the table. SENIOR AND FRIENDS - We will be meeting on Thursday, August 16, at 6:00pm in the Activity Center at First CRC. We will be served a catered meal for $10 a person. Nathan Fredrickson, who is the Director of Investigations and Risk Management in Sioux Falls, will present information regarding his work and he will address on how we as seniors can identify and avoid scammers. KID ZONE- COMMIT, INVEST, GROW & SHOW…JOIN our Sunday School program after the service starting in September.  We are in need of Kid Zone teachers - there is no prep, everything is ready to go for you, all you have to do is show up, build a relationship with your class, and follow the curriculum! Contact Danielle Johnson if interested. Thanks for serving our children! GEMS COUNSELORS NEEDED - Have you thought about being a counselor? Well, now is the time. We are in need of two 3rd grade teachers. You do not have to have a daughter in GEMS to be a counselor. ALL women have talents to bring to young girls who are eager to learn. We will sit down together before the year begins to plan out the year, and you will have a co-counselor with you. Contact Danielle Johnson, Children’s Ministry Director or Julie Vande Kamp (359-3876) with questions.

THE FURNITURE MISSION needs volunteers for Saturday, August 4 to help distribute furniture to those in need. We start at 8am with a great breakfast and devotions. We finish around 11am. If you can help serve, please contact Jason Hiemstra at [email protected] MINISTRY NEWSLETTERS UPDATE - Over the past few years, we have had an increase in the number of newsletters that we’ve attached with the midweek announcements. In order to prevent an overload of material sent with the midweek announcements, we feel that it would best serve our congregation to post all newsletters (from missionaries and our ministry partners) on our website only. Going forward, in order to access the newsletters, you will need to login to the member’s resources page on Shalom’s website www.shalomcrc.org and look for the “Newsletter” heading. Once you’ve clicked on that, you will be brought to a page with links to our different newsletters. Thanks for understanding and embracing change as it comes your way! If you are a member and do not have the password for the member resource page, you can contact the office or Brendon De Boer at 371-1597 X 26. FRIENDSHIP MINISTRY - We are getting closer to that time of year! Friendship Ministry will be in need of additional volunteers this year as we expect to have more friends than ever before! If you’re already a Friendship mentor, you will have received an email inquiring about your intentions to return! Please be on the lookout for that email! If for some reason you have not received an email regarding your intentions, contact Brendon De Boer! If you’ve never volunteered, but would like more information, please plan on attending our upcoming Ministry Fair on August 26 after worship, or contact Brendon De Boer at [email protected] or call at: (712) 441-6708. Thanks!
