AUTISM COVERAGE BECOMES LAW WITH SIGNING (APRIL 30,2015) Just a month ago, the latest attempt to require autism coverage in Georgia insurance policies appeared dead. But this time, a compromise between House and Senate leaders led to a reworked insurance bill that added the autism requirement language. The legislation was passed. It will require many health insurance plans to cover applied behavior analysis (ABA), a treatment designed to help young children with autism reach their full potential in learning ability. The legislation applies only to children 6 and under, and does not require coverage by large companies that self-insure their benefits. The treatment that’s now covered provides “hope and a fighting chance’’ for the one in 64 children in Georgia who have autism, Deal said before signing the bill. Separately Wednesday, asked about a funding dispute involving Medicaid, the governor said it’s a concern that federal health officials are pushing Georgia to return more than $200 million in nursing home payments. But he added that such payment disputes between states and federal officials often take years to sort out. “We’re early in that process,’’ Deal said at the Atlanta Press Club. The Gwinnett Chamber announced on Thursday that GEIGER Automotive will open a 48,000-square foot manufacturing operations facility in Suwanee. Plastic automotive components used in engine compartment powertrain applications will be manufactured at the facility.(05-01-15) Texas teen gets 45-year prison term for killing mom, sister WEATHERFORD, Texas – A teenager has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for fatally shooting his mother and sister at their North Texas home. The Weatherford Democrat reports that 19-year-old Jake Evans pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of murder in the killing of 48-year-old Jami Evans and 15-year-old Mallory Evans in October 2012. Jake Evans, who was 17 years old when he shot his mother and sister at their Weatherford home, called 911 and told the dispatcher that he didn’t know why he killed them but that he had been planning to do so for a while. Evans will serve at least 22 1/2 years in prison before becoming eligible for parole and will receive credit for the 2 1/2 years already served. Weatherford is 30 miles west of Fort Worth. Al Sharpton Gets Physical With Fox News, But Not Over Taxes You have to hand it to Reverend Al Sharpton for being in the right place at the right time. Fox News reporter Leland Vittert got into a heated confrontation with Sharpton when Sharpton tried to keep him from questioning Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake. “We can’t ask questions?” Vittert challenged, “You are a public official and we can’t ask questions?” Sharpton snapped back that, “You will have the opportunity. At the press conference, we will answer all questions,” Sharpton said. When second man began pushing the reporter away. Sharpton threw up his arm and gave a light shove. Vittert said he didn’t get to ask Mayor Rawlings-Blake whether she ordered Baltimore police to stand down and let the crowd loot. She might not have been able to answer in a way that turned the tables, but Rev. Sharpton probably could. He always seems to get by just fine. Mr. Sharpton is revered as an activist by many, and yet not by all. For example, he has been accused by Eric Garner’s daughter, of being all about the money. Rev. Sharpton has also long had big tax troubles. He has owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to New York State and millions to the IRS. Most taxpayers with debts that large and outstanding that long would be pushed and prodded to pay.

Sunday evenings were always a special time in our small church in Northern Ohio. After singing a few hymns, Pastor Stanley would walk to the pulpit and ask, “Who would like to stand up tonight and thank the Lord publicly for His goodness and blessings during the last week?” We would all wait anxiously to hear what God had “been doing” since last Sunday evening. It was a time of sharing and rejoicing. We were always happy when someone was healed or helped. God got all the credit but we all rejoiced with the one who He had honored. We believed that when we asked, God would answer. And when He answered we all enjoyed the results and gave thanks together. God heard and answered David’s prayer. But the nature of his prayer or the problems he was facing are not defined. However, in his concluding remarks he writes of God being “delighted in the well-being of His servant.” Well-being includes everything and anything that concerns us. Big or little, large or small. Whatever concerns us concerned God first because His goodness and grace has no limit. They exceed our imagination. The answer to his prayer was the beginning of an important event in his life. He did not go quietly to his room and thank God by himself. No! He insisted on sharing his joy with others and said, “Come and join me. Let those who are happy with God’s blessings on me rejoice with me - all day!” What a way to grow. After we pray together, let’s praise together. Visit us at: SowerMinistries.org

Vegetable and Rice Burritos with Quesadilla 4 teaspoons canola oil, divided 1/3 cup uncooked long-grain white rice 1 teaspoon chopped garlic, divided 2/3 cup water 1/4 teaspoon salt, divided 1 tablespoon chopped jalapeño pepper 1/4 cup reduced-fat sour cream 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper 1 cup chopped onion 1 cup sliced cremini mushrooms 1/2 cup fresh corn kernels 1 small zucchini, halved lengthwise and sliced (about 3/4 cup) 3/4 cup halved grape tomatoes 4 (7- to 8-inch) whole-wheat tortillas 4 ounces quesadilla cheese, shredded (about 1 cup packed) Cilantro leaves (optional) Directions 1. Heat a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Add 1 teaspoon canola oil to pan; swirl to coat. Add rice and 1/2 teaspoon garlic; sauté for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Add 2/3 cup water and 1/8 teaspoon salt; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 15 minutes. Remove from heat; let stand for 10 minutes. Fluff with a fork; stir in jalapeño. 2. Add onion; sauté 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon garlic and mushrooms; sauté 1 minute, stirring frequently. Add corn and zucchini; sauté 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add remaining 1/8 teaspoon salt and tomatoes; sauté 30 seconds or until tomatoes are thoroughly heated. Remove vegetable mixture from pan. Wipe pan clean with a paper towel. 4. Heat tortillas according to package directions. Divide sour cream mixture evenly among tortillas; spread to a thin layer, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Top each tortilla with 1/4 cup cheese, about 1/4 cup rice mixture, and about 1/2 cup vegetable mixture. Roll up each, jelly-roll fashion. Return skillet to medium heat. Add 2 burritos to pan, seam side down; cook 1 minute on each side or until browned. Repeat procedure with remaining burritos. Garnish with cilantro leaves, if desired.
