PEOPLE STILL CARE... God gave us cool temps and bright sunshine on Saturday, January 30, for our I Love My Church workday. Throughout the morning, there was an excitement in the air. People were enjoying the fun and fellowship with one another, laughing together, sweating together, teasing one another, and working side by side. At the end of it all, everyone was walking away tired but with a warm sense of satisfaction in the experience of allowing God to work through 50-60 people committed to various tasks of improvements to our church buildings and grounds. As the crew that was working in the Prayer Garden was exiting, Russell Hill and I were discussing the large number of people who participated in the workday, the excitement, and of course the very noticeable improvements… and he was quick to add, “People still care.” Indeed, they do, and always will when it comes to the inspiration and satisfaction of being on board with where God is at work and in God-sized tasks. So, we look back with grateful hearts to those who gave their Saturday morning to cut and trim bamboo and shrubs, add mulch, install metal edging, do a makeover of the color area near the front office, a makeover of the prayer garden, digging up ground cover and smoothing dirt in some of our tree islands, metal fence repair, painting the pastor’s office suite, changing flappers in toilets, work at the Mission House, and hauling trash, trimmings and debris. The tasks continue…as do the blessings of being a part of the tasks. Thanks to all who still care about every facet of ministry of First Baptist Church, Plano… we are extensions of God’s grace and Kingdom work. There is no greater calling!
