Creating art, as well as viewing art, can be an exercise in prayer, & has long been a way people have tapped into the divine & experienced God.

We invite artists, of all ages, & all mediums, to submit their creative works, inspired by the Holy Spirit, that help us experience God.

Art as Prayer Show * March 9th - March 13th, 2016 Christ Episcopal Church, 503 E. Walworth Ave., Delavan, WI A Call to Artists:
You are invited to share spiritual art pieces (1-5), any medium, (painting, mixed media, collage, photography, quilting, video, pen & ink, sculpture, etc.) that symbolizes an aspect of prayer, with a short meditation that points to the Divine, and brings viewers a glimpse of God. Each art work will require a typed meditation (not lengthy), in large font (20 pt+) on a 8 1/2 x 11 paper, with the title of your art piece, medium, your name, an artist statement and the meditation. Artists need to supply their own standing easel for hanging art, or table top easel, or pedestals. We have limited table space available to display some art. We do not have wall space for hanging art. Artists are welcome to attend any or all of the viewing times, please respect the quiet meditation atmosphere, and if you would like to discuss your art pieces with participants, we ask that you do so in a room away from the meditation areas. Artists are able to sell their art, but they must remain on display until the end of the show. While all reasonable care and security measures will be taken, Christ Episcopal Church, and their assigns are not responsible for accidents, damage to, or thefts of your art works. Participating artists accept all responsibility for damages and/or loss should it occur.
To Enter: Send us a photo of each of your art or art pieces, with your name, medium, size, title of art, artist statement and a scriptural meditation to go with each one, by February 29, 2016. Email to

[email protected] You will be notified within 3-5 days of your entry being received, of acceptance of your art in our Art As Prayer Show. Upon acceptance, we’ll set a time to bring in your art and/or set up, and include it in the Prayer/Meditation Stations that will be set up in the Christ the King room, Chapel, Library, Church and Narthex. Please be available to set up or drop off art at one of these times: Monday, Mar. 7th, 9:30 am - Noon; Tues., Mar. 8th, 10 am - Noon; or Wed. Mar. 9th, 9:30 - 11:45 a.m. We could also arrange a Tuesday evening or afternoon set up by request. Let us know what dates you will be setting up. Questions? We are asking all artists to keep their art work up for the entire show, which ends on Sunday Evening at 8:30 p.m. You may take your art from 8:30 - 9 p.m. Sunday night, March 13th or Monday, March 14th, 9:30 - Noon, or by appointment at another time.
A Call to Seekers & Art Lovers:
Come, experience a unique way of looking at prayer and your faith through various forms of art and meditation stations by area artists. Come at any of the viewing times, take 30 - 60 minutes or more to refresh your soul with these art meditations. Some of the artists will be available at various times to talk with.
