I Wake Forest, NC

A Note From Pastor Puls...inconvenience ahead The Town of Wake Forest has been gearing up for a major bridge/road renovation project. Right outside the front door of Hope Lutheran Church, Rogers Road will be widened, and the bridge over Smith Creek will be replaced. This construction project is scheduled to begin June 13, and is projected to wrap up by the end of October. We’re all going to be affected by this project here at Hope. Rogers Road will be closed from the bridge (between Hope and Sheetz) to the stoplight at the Forestville Road/Heritage Lake Road intersection. Hope’s primary entrance on Rogers Road will be closed, and all traffic to and from our facilities will be required to use our secondary entrance at the back of the parking lot. This entrance will route all Hope traffic along Trentini Avenue to Heritage Lake Road. This will be a major inconvenience for most of us, but I am confident that the people of Hope will handle this “construction season” with grace. We’ll share more details of this project in the weeks ahead; but please start focusing on these important realities. 

Keep coming to church! Schedule a little bit of extra travel time, and summon up some extra patience. Weekly spiritual food is essential for all of us, and we can’t allow an inconvenience to keep us from the Word of God, from the Lord’s Supper, and from the fellowship of the church family. If you have to make a little additional effort to keep your spiritual health up, it’s worth it. Be a good neighbor! Trentini Avenue is home to many families with small children. Please follow the posted 20 MPH speed limit diligently. It’s not very easy to actually drive at that slow pace, but we all need to drive as if our

own children were present on the street. In fact, they are! We have Hope families with young children living on Trentini Avenue, and we want to be good neighbors to all. Practice your route! Before June 13, make sure you are familiar with the route you’ll need to take to get to and from Hope, including Trentini Avenue. We’ll be posting a map on our website in early May, and the Town of Wake Forest has information on alternate routes on their website. Please call the church office if you need help planning your route. Keep smiling! Hope’s a joyful, cheerful place, and we’re all used to smiling when we’re here. Everybody needs to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude during this project. Make sure you don’t let the inconvenience of the road closure change your church experience.

Some of life’s inconveniences spring up without warning. This road project is one that we can all plan for. Let’s face this inconvenience with the good of the church’s ministry, and our own spiritual health, in mind. God bless you, and God bless Hope! In Christ,

Pastor Wayne Puls [email protected] 919-554-8109

"The Lutheran Lens" May 1 - May 22 (4 Weeks) Adult Education floor, room 301 Leader: Dr. Peter Muller Our Lutheran teachings are founded on the church’s understanding of the Bible as the absolute Word of God. But what is it about our classic teachings that can enhance both our understanding of God's Word and of ourselves as God's children? Is there really something unique here? If you are new to the Lutheran Church, a life-long member, or anywhere in between, you are invited to spend four weeks exploring God’s Word through the "Lutheran Lens” and find out for yourself. You never know... you might just "see" things more clearly!
