Prayer of Confession: (Unison) O God, our Father, we remember at this Christmas time how the eternal Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We thank you that Jesus took our human body upon him, so that we can never again dare to despise or neglect or misuse the body, since you made it your dwelling-place. We thank you that Jesus did a day’s work like any working-man, that He knew the problem of living together in a family, that He knew the frustration and irritation of serving the public and the wearing routine of everyday work and life, and so clothed each common task with glory. We thank you too that He shared in happy social occasions, knew friendships, and had to bear unfair criticism, prejudiced opposition, malicious and deliberate misunderstanding. We thank you that whatever happens to us, He has been there before, and that, because He himself has gone through these things, He is able to help those who are going through them. O Lord, help us, forgive us, and empower us, to live like Him...and for Him. (silent prayers) Amen. JANUARY CLASS FOR NEW MEMBERS AND OTHERS

Good Morning dear friends!

W EDNESDAYS FROM 6:00 TO 7:30 P.M. JANUARY 8, 15, 22 AND 29 FAMILY LIFE CENTER

My, what a week, eh? I am so very delighted that you and yours are here with us, as we gather today more as a family than anything.

W HAT’S COVERED:  BECOME ORIENTED TO THE MINISTRY & MISSION OF PLCPC  DISCOVER YOUR TOP 5 STRENGTHS  FIND YOUR NICHE AT PLCPC  LEARN THE ASPECTS OF MEMBERSHIP  TELL YOUR STORY; MAKE NEW FRIENDS

I’ve used today’s CHRISTMAS QUIZ over the years with great delight, as I too realize how I’ve sort of let the culture ooze into the story of our Lord in ways that try to fill in the gaps of what we do and do not know. But sometimes, it’s helpful to take a step back to see how our imaginations have been working as it relates to what the Biblical text actually says.

Taught by Pastor John, the classes enable participants to know Jesus Christ as Lord, find and use their strengths, and become engaged in the life of our church and its work. Classes are intended for those who wish to become members, as well as for others who have yet to discover their Top 5 Strengths.

You may have heard how one teacher of God’s Word has described Bible study, with three basic questions: 1. WHAT DOES IT SAY? 2. WHAT DOES IT MEAN? 3. HOW DOES IT APPLY...TO US? ..AND TO ME?

Please call Ann in the Church Office to register or if you have questions. Free childcare is offered by reservation (619) 223-1633.

ATTENTION: If you should notice that someone in the congregation is having difficulties, do not hesitate to raise your hand or stand up and call for assistance during the service. It may cause a disruption, but better to err on the side of a possible emergency than not to call attention to it. Our ushers are trained for emergencies.

So, sit back today, delight in God’s goodness and grace, and let yourself have a good chuckle as we rest in the wonderful Christmas story.

We have enough to worry about in the coming year. So let’s be refreshed as we thank God for all His blessings, day by day and season by season. Yours and His, Pastor John
