Prayer of Confession (unison) Catch me in my scurrying, Lord, and hold me in this Lenten Season: hold my feet to the fire of your grace and make me attentive to my mortality that I may begin to die now… to those things that keep me from living with you and with my neighbors on this earth; to grudges and indifference, to certainties that smother possibilities, to my fascination with false securities, and to my addiction to sweatless dreams. POINT LOMA COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH 2128 CHATSWORTH BLVD. SAN DIEGO, CA 92107 619.223.1633 POINTLOMACHURCH.ORG AT PLCPC WE SEEK TO EXPERIENCE JESUS, STRENGTHEN CHRIST’S CHURCH, JOURNEY INTO DEEPER FAITH, AND TRANSFORM OUR WORLD.

I’ve just returned from a week of study leave through Princeton Theological Seminary’s Office of Continuing Education on the East Coast with a week on Leadership Dynamics. I’ve learned much and plan on seeking to integrate my reading, lectures and discussions into the fabric of our congregation in the days and years ahead! But, again, it sure is great to be home. We find two straight-forward verses today on Forgiveness. Don’t we know how difficult on the one hand and so desperately needed on the other comes this exhortation from Jesus. I hope that collectively we can discover some new strategies in our journey together. But then, isn’t Lent about the “spring” that represents the thawing out of things, the emergence of new growth, the popping up or out of new buds of fragrance and beauty and tender greens? Yes? Even in Southern California? I expect and suppose. Welcome to worship. As you savor the broad menu of opportunities to grow in this Pointing Ahead, as we are so strategically positioned here on the Point, I pray that you get the Point, for His glory and others’ benefit! God bless you and yours,

Pastor John
