What Does the Lord Require?

Prayer of Confession (In unison, followed by silent prayer) God of all creation, You have given us all that we have. You are the author of our very existence. In response to all this goodness we strive to please You. We build elaborate temples and shrines to Your glory. We make great shows of heaping praise at Your feet. We twist ourselves into knots trying to act right in Your presence. We do all of this and forget to ever ask: What do You require of us, Lord? Rather than build walls, You call us to do justice. Rather than showy gestures, You call us to embody faithful love. Rather than obsessing over sin, You call us to walk humbly with You. Forgive us when we forget to ask, Gracious God. Forgive us and let us remember how a life of faith can be. (silent prayer) Amen.
