Prayers of the People and Lord’s Prayer Pastor John Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Pointing Ahead—June 7, 2015 Greetings, friends,

Red Brick Senior Center—10 am to 1 pm June 9—Rear View Mirror. Lunch $6: Chicken, casserole, roasted vegetables, salad, rolls, and brownies.

How can many of us become more faithful Convictional Christians vs. the Casual Christians we’ve been hearing about these past weeks through the Pew Report?

June 10—Lunch & Learn: Positive Solutions— 11:30 sack lunch –12 pm program, Family Life Center.

Let me offer the Heidelberg Catechism (HC). I was a very young minister when I was first aware of the first Question/Answer of the HC. I think it was when I had just gone to Glendale Presbyterian Church as their fulltime Youth Assistant, with 6 Seminarians from Fuller working very hard with me in Junior High, Senior High and College. And there was a tragic death of a youth from Arcadia Presbyterian Church that we had known when we’d take 250 kids to Winter Camp with that church. So I attended. And I will never forget the power and grace and peace that came as their Senior Pastor, Jim Hagelganz, whom I have invited here to preach in our past years, stood up and first quoted those words. I was spell-bound.

Ageless Fitness: M/W/F, 9-10 am, Family Life Center, $2/session. Fran Styles (619) 223-8204.

Pastoral Succession Process To keep the congregation apprised of the progress and milestones in the process to select a new Senior Pastor, a link has been placed on our PLCPC website. Go to www.pointlomachurch.org and click on the Stay Current tab and scroll to Pastoral Succession Process. Updates will be added to the website as appropriate. For those without computers, a black & white copy of the process is on page 7 of the June-July Spire, and a few color copies are available in the church office. Elder Kathy Wright, Chair of Nominating

I cannot help but urge any new elder or other leader here to commit them to memory. And I urge it upon you! We’ll take this up during the next weeks in worship beginning June 14. We have obtained a limited number of the booklet, The Heidelberg Catechism: A New Translation for the 21st Century, by Lee C. Barrett, III. It is available for $8 on the Plaza between services, or in the church office.
