Prayer of Confession (in unison, followed by silent prayer) Holy God, we make no pretense about our lives. We forget, even deny that we were created with wonder and delight in our souls. We go through life anxious and serious, seeking to get ahead, striving to make ends meet. We rush and hurry, fill up our calendars. Where is the joy? Where are the days of summer ease? Where is our sense of delight and Sabbath rest? Forgive us when we have sought to remake others to fit our needs, or spoken angry words and hurtful comments. Forgive us when we reject others because their faith looks different than ours or we demand that they believe what we believe. Holy God, refashion us in the image of your Son, our Savior, in whose name we pray. (silent prayer) Amen.
