Fraser International College (FIC), in partnership with Simon Fraser University, offers university pathway programs to international students and is based on the campus of Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. We currently have an opening for a self-motivated, highly organized and capable individual to work as the Academic Coordinator within our team. Essential  A degree in a relevant field from a recognized university.  Experience in a higher education environment.  Demonstrated leadership and coordination skills in the capacity to manage all functions of a busy office.  Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with demonstrated ability to deal with confidential and sensitive matters. Demonstrated written communication skills that enable the appointee to compile, present and disseminate reports and submissions.  Ability to organize and prioritise multiple issues/tasks of varying priorities.  Sound knowledge of equal opportunity, equity and workplace health and safety principles and ability to implement them at the strategic and/or operational level.  Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.  Demonstrated commitment to continuous quality assurance.  Strong Computer Skills  Must be Canadian citizen, permanent resident or in possession of a valid work permit.  Expected to work flexible hours between 8:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday and occasional weekends.

__________________________________________________________________ Position Purpose: The Academic Coordinator will assist the Senior Academic Manager to efficiently and effectively manage the operations of the Academic Department in the delivery of FIC’s teaching and learning services. This role encompasses academic advising and incorporates responsibilities for collection and analysis of student related data, as well as quality assurance of the academic programs and services offered. __________________________________________________________________ DUTIES: 1. Assist the Senior Academic Manager in all areas of the academic unit, ensuring students have a smooth transition into the College and the University. 2. Engage in one to one advising of FIC students. 3. Facilitate a customer-focused culture, ensuring services, facilities and the experience of the student is a positive one to prepare students for their university experience. 4. Assist in course moderation for all instructors by ensuring documentation is complete; 5. Assist in the coordination of professional development sessions for teaching staff; 6. Liaise with SFU personnel with respect to course outlines, booklists and access to resources; 7. Assist Senior Academic Manager with preparation of timetables 8. Manage final exam processes, including exam scheduling, and assist the Senior Academic Manager with moderation processes;

9. Manage student information system, including assisting in input and testing of upgrades; 10.Analyse course and student evaluation data and prepare written reports with Recommendations; 11.Prepare academic metrics and reports for Head Office as required; 12.Assist IT in managing classroom IT issues; 13.Assist the Senior Academic Manager with academic misconduct issues; 14.Work with other members of the academic team to ensure end of term progression is managed on tight timelines; 15.Ensure enrolment issues are thoroughly tested and new and returning student enrolment runs smoothly; 16.Assist with the development of new programs to meet the expansion and growth plans of FIC; 17.Assist Senior Academic Manager with instructor contracts; 18.Other duties as required. __________________________________________________________________ SELECTION CRITERIA: Essential: 1.
