Academic Director - SIBT Full-Time, North Ryde Navitas is a diversified global education provider that offers an extensive range of educational services for students and professionals including university programs, English language training and settlement services, creative media education, workforce education and student recruitment.

Navitas is seeking an Academic Director, to be based in North Ryde and the CBD, to manage the Academic team of Sydney Institute of Business Technology (SIBT). Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT) is part of Navitas Limited, with colleges and managed campuses across Australia, Canada, Africa, Asia and the United Kingdom. SIBT is based on the campus of Macquarie University and at a CBD location, offering a wide range of higher education pathway programs to the University. Reporting to the College Director & Principal – MOPS, the position is responsible for providing leadership in the efficient, effective and equitable operation of the Academic Department in the development and delivery of its programs. The Academic Manager and four Program Convenors report directly to this position. The successful candidate will possess strong academic leadership and relationship management skills, coupled with the ability to drive excellence in learning and teaching. Essential 1. Tertiary qualifications at the postgraduate level in a discipline relevant to one of those offered by the College. 2. Demonstrated excellence in leadership and management within a higher education environment, including an ability to build strong, sustainable teams, manage resources within a budget and coordinate a broad range of academic functions. 3. Substantial experience in curriculum development, including the management and evaluation of learning and teaching effectiveness. 4. Demonstrated experience in effective teaching including ability to develop scholarly, innovative and flexible approaches to teaching and facilitation of learning. 5. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire students and staff. 6. Proven success in working collaboratively and an ability to build highly productive relationships across a range of internal and external partners. Desirable 1. Overview and Objectives of the Position:

The Academic Director is a key leadership role within SIBT, responsible to the College Director and Principal for providing leadership in the efficient, effective and equitable operation of the Academic Department in the development and delivery of its programs. This incorporates responsibilities for curriculum development, accreditation of programs, staff management, academic quality assurance, Academic budget oversight, student academic and welfare support services and developing strong links with key staff at partner universities with which SIBT develops articulation arrangements. The appointee of this position will be required to meet the fit and proper person requirements as outlined in Section 9 of the Education Services for Overseas Student Act 2000.

Key Result Areas:

The Academic Director is responsible for: 1.

Ensuring excellence in teaching and learning by:      

providing leadership in the development of program profiles and curriculum development; ensuring learning and teaching targets are met; fostering excellence in learning and teaching, including the development of innovative and flexible approaches which support the diversity of students within the College; maintaining effective processes for assuring the quality of learning and teaching; ensuring standards for student support and pastoral care are implemented; and improving student engagement and retention;

2.

Effectively and efficiently managing staff and resources of the Department within an allocated budget to achieve high quality outcomes in keeping with College strategic and Teaching and Learning Plans;

3.

Fostering engagement and strong relationships with University partners with which the College operates;

4.

Ensuring governance structures and policy frameworks which promote rigorous academic quality assurance processes and conform to the regulatory environment in which the College operates;

5.

Undertaking academic staff planning and management including the:     

recruitment of high quality staff; leading, managing and reviewing the performance of academic staff; ensuring staffing practices promote and support excellence in performance; promoting the professional development of all academic staff, including casual teaching staff, to ensure ongoing promotion of scholarship and discipline expertise; ensuring the effective operation of annual staff performance reviews for all staff, including casual teaching staff.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Essential: 
