SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS Installation and servicing of air-conditioning equipment can be hazardous due to system pressures and electrical components. Only trained and qualified service personnel should install, repair, or service air-conditioning equipment. When working on air-conditioning equipment, observe all precautions in the literature, tags, and labels attached to the unit, and other safety precautions that may apply.

Before performing installation, service, or maintenance operations on unit, turn off main power switch. Electrical shock could cause personal injury.

GENERAL The carbon filter kit is designed to be used with duct-free high wall fan coil units. This accessory will improve internal air quality by removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs), odors, and micro particles from the air. Filter kit may be installed either before or after the unit has been mounted to the wall. Filters must be changed about every three months. Ensure that the correct kit has been selected for installation by matching the kit part number with the unit’s fan coil Btuh size in Table 1.

Disconnect all power to unit to avoid possible electrical shock during installation. See unit power switch to OFF position. 1. Open front grille of fan coil unit by lifting grille upward on the hinges. 2. Remove the air filters from the unit by carefully loosening air filters from tabs and sliding out. 3. Insert one active carbon filter into each of the two collectors provided in the kit. See Fig. 1. 4. Slide collector and active carbon filter assembly into tracks located under the grille. 5. Reinstall air filters over active carbon filters. 6. Close front grille on fan coil unit. 7. Reconnect power to unit according to instructions shipped with unit. COLLECTOR

Disconnect all power to unit to avoid possible electrical shock during installation. See unit power switch to OFF position. 1. Remove the 3 screws located under small plastic cover located below louvers on fan coil unit. Set aside. 2. Remove cover of unit by carefully lifting off of unit. 3. Attach the two frames (provided in accessory kit) to each other as shown in Fig. 2. Use 2 of the screws provided in the accessory kit. 4. Place frame assembly on coil, lining up the oval hole on left side of frame assembly with the hole on left side of the coil. See Fig. 3. NOTE: The thermistor clip may have to be moved to make room for the frame. 5. Once holes on left side of frame assembly are lined up, the oval hole on the right side of the frame assembly will align with hole on right side of coil. For 12,000 Btuh units, the assembly will align with the FIRST hole on right side of coil. For 18,000 and 24,000 Btuh units, the assembly will align with the SECOND hole on right side of coil. IMPORTANT: A green ground wire may already be screwed to second hole on right side of coil. If so, the ground wire may be moved to a hole below the second hole on the coil to make room for the frame assembly. 6. To secure frame assembly to coil, gently push frame assembly into coil until the clips underneath the frame assembly snap onto the coil tube. The clips will fit between the coil fins. Insert one screw into hole on each side of frame assembly (using screws provided in kit). 7. Insert one active carbon filter into each filter box, then insert into collectors. Slide collectors into frame assembly as shown in Fig. 4. 8. Replace 3 screws removed in Step 2. 9. Reattach cover of fan coil unit. 10. Reconnect power to unit according to instructions shipped with unit.

It is necessary to replace filters every three months to ensure optimum performance of unit. To replace filters, disconnect all power to unit. Open front grille of fan coil unit by lifting grille upward on hinges. Remove air filter from unit. Pull collector out of frame and remove filter from collector. Discard used filter (and filter box for 12,000 to 24,000 Btuh units). Insert new filter into collector and reinstall (9,000 Btuh units). For 12,000 and 24,000 Btuh units, insert new filter into new filter box, insert them into collector, and reinstall. NOTE: The thermistor clip must be relocated downward to replace filters. Be sure to reinstall the air filters. FRAME
