The History of Redemption: John’s Gospel Part 2 Mike Roberts Sanctuary

The Story Line of the Bible: The History of Redemption: Judges Greg Fisher Sanctuary

Parables Jason Clement Sanctuary

The Apostle John was not only an eyewitness of Christ and his earthly ministry, but was the disciple who shared a very close relationship with the Savior. Thus his gospel provides keen insight into who Christ is, what his life and death mean, and how we should live in light of the Word becoming flesh. Join us as we delve deeper into the rest of John’s portrait of the Savior.

We continue our tour through redemptive history and resume after God had settled his people in the Promised Land. We will see how things quickly fell apart when the Israelites rejected God’s kingship over them. The resulting sin cycles ultimately led to their descent into apostasy. There are many helpful life lessons to be gleaned from this important historical book.

During Jesus’ earthly ministry, one of the primary ways he instructed his disciples was through stories. People would gather from far and wide in order to listen to what Jesus taught about the kingdom of God, and the most common way he would explain the kingdom was in parables. Our class will look at several parables, exploring the rich truths they reveal about who Jesus is and what he came to achieve through his life, death, and resurrection. Worldviews Survey Jim Rich Room 107

Christianity and Philosophy Paul Baldwin Room 107

Modern western culture is characterized by a diversity of worldviews about many fundamental realities such as truth, God, spirituality, values, and morality. It is important to understand these critical topics if we hope to engage the changing culture around us. Join us as we explore key world religions such as Islam and Buddhism, and important thought systems such as secular humanism and scientific naturalism.

More than any other religion, Christianity has been the subject of intellectual and philosophical debate. The conversation between believers and skeptics has a long tradition and in this class we will survey the key actors and their arguments for and against belief in the God of the Bible. From Aristotle to Hume to Kant and Kierkegaard, we will travel the trail of the continuing controversies and emerge better equipped to defend the faith. The History of Redemption: Old Testament Feasts Wayne Shaw Room 107 The annual festivals and feasts of ancient Israel not only had important religious and social implications, but they also taught about the riches of God’s character in the unfolding plan of His salvation. Although these ancient ceremonies are almost two millennia old, they have a great deal of practical application to believers today.

On-going Classic Authors of the Church Jeff Castor & Fred Putnam Far narthex In this class we read and discuss works by ancient and modern Christian theologians and thinkers, ranging from the Church Fathers through C. S. Lewis. Each session begins with a question based on the week's reading, which leads into a conversation about the meaning and significance of what has been read.
