Avoiding Despair through Personal Prayer Daniel 6 At some point in life everyone, regardless of power, position, stature or status, will confront devastating circumstances that can result in despair. No one is immune to the possibility of despair! The solution to despair is personal prayer! 1. Pray prior to adverse circumstances! Prayer establishes a reliable relationship with God! (Verse 10) Daniel’s design for prayer:  He prayed personally  He prayed regularly  He humbled himself  He gave thanks to God  He asked God for help 1 - Prayer builds relationship 2 - Prayer builds trust through that relationship = confidence 3 - Prayer brings peace through that trust. 4 - Prayer builds perspective through that peace 5 - Prayer gives power through that proper perspective. 6 – Prayer gives perseverance through that power 2. Pray despite adverse circumstances We must pray in and through adverse circumstances. (Verse 11) Daniel could employ common responses: Panic / Run away / Lie / Recant / Get angry / Fight Daniel was prepared for despair through personal prayer and continued to pray through adversity.

3.The result of Prayer Daniel was rescued! (Verse 22) King Darius was converted! (Verses 26-27) The entire Kingdom was impacted (Verse 26) Daniel prospered! (Verse 28) You need never again despair about anything for God rescues and saves…even when there appears to be absolutely no hope. Just as God rescued Daniel, He will rescue you from despair through personal prayer if you will surrender today in fear and reverence of the God of Daniel through His son Jesus Christ.
