All Church Schoolbag Mission Project There is something about buying new school supplies that gives you hope. Hope for the year ahead, hope for learning new things, and hope for growth through education. You are invited to join in a back-to-school mission project as Cross Winds provides hope for children who need school supplies. Let’s work together in this all-church mission project by purchasing and organizing supplies for school children in need in developing countries. The Cross Wind’s Stitches of Love group is sewing schoolbags to be filled with supplies. Donations of heavier fabric like denim or corduroy are gladly welcomed. Anyone in our congregation is invited to join in on sewing school bags. Let Jane Ducklow know your interest, and she’ll get you started. Requested School supplies: (The number needed for each schoolbag is in parenthesis.) One-subject 8” x 10 1/2” spiral notebooks (3) Pens (blue or black) (3) Unsharpened pencils (no advertising) (3) Small glue sticks (3) Pencil sharpener (1) Pencil eraser 2” or larger (1) Ruler 12” long with metric (1) Box of 24 crayons (1) Pair of round tips scissors (no plastic scissors) (1) School supply donations can be dropped off at the little red wagon in the Compass Room at Cross Winds starting August 14 thru September 23. Our youth will be helping by opening packaging on October 3rd during Wednesday night programming. The Service of Sunday (SOS) Children will be filling the schoolbags on October 7th during both services. Michelle Schober will be delivering the schoolbags to the United Methodist Midwest Distribution Center in Illinois late October. From there our schoolbags will be sent to schools overseas.
