2013 AmeriDance Solo & Ensemble Championship Competition General Information The following information will provide you with additional details about the competition.

Registration & Check-In Doors will open at 7:00am. Registration will begin at 7:00am and last until 10:00 am. A brief meeting for coaches and contestants will happen at 7:30 am in the performance area. Please have one person check-in and pick-up your competition day information at registration. Please turn in your music at registration. Please only one song per cd and have dancers name, division and song title on the front. Only 1 song per ensemble and must have group name, and division.

Medical Release Forms Each participant must complete one of the enclosed release forms and have it signed by a parent or guardian. Forms MUST be turned in at the time of registration. Please turn in all Medical Release Forms together.

Coach and Competition Passes Competitors in uniform require no passes and will be admitted to the competition and any designated “dressing areas”. Ensemble Coaches must display their Coaches Pass. One coaches pass will be included per Ensemble you registered.

Performance Schedule Performance times are subject to change and can be viewed on the Friday prior to competition on line at www.ameridanceinc.com or call the office at 800-966-5867x 26. The most updated performance schedule will be distributed at registration the day of the competition.

When does the Time Begin? The Solo routine time limit is 2:30. The Ensemble time limit is 2:30 (with a 4-minute time block) The routine begins with the first beat of music and ends with the last beat of music or movement.

Procedural Questions Any questions concerning the rules or procedures of the competition must be handled exclusively by the advisor or coach ONLY and must be directed toward the Competition Director. Such questions should be made prior to the solo/team’s performance. Competition officials are NOT to be approached by any coach, parent, competitor or other supporter for 48 hours after the completion of the competition. A 25-penalty will be assessed if competition officials are approached within the 48 hour time period.

Admission Adults $14.00, Children & Seniors $12.00, Children 5 and under Free. Admission covers the entire day, including our AmeriCheer & AmeriDance Winter Open National Championship later in the day. Videotaping is not allowed. Video of the performances can be purchased at the Mr. Video vendor booth! Action shots from the event can also be purchased at the R.T. vendor booth. Please no flash photography.

Dressing Areas Dressing areas will be available. Please be courteous to one another and share as space is tight. I suggest placing your name in all of your belongings. The Greater Columbus Convention Center and AmeriDance are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Mirrors will not be provided, but outlets will be available in the changing area.

Gown Competition: Gown competition will be judged for all contestants, where they will get to model their dress/gown individually and will use a specific pattern. We will demonstrate this for the contestants in the meeting at 7:30am. Any party dress, church attire or gown is acceptable. Contestants will wear their dress/gown for awards. All contestants will begin to line up for the pageant portion at 9:45am. Once the gown competition begins, contestants will be called out individually to walk around the red carpet and model their gown. This section of the pageant will go fairly quickly, so individual times will not be posted. An AmeriDance Staff Member will be backstage to assist in the line up process.

Competition Rules & Guidelines All competitors must follow the AmeriDance Rules and Guidelines. If you do not have a copy of the 2012 - 2013 AmeriDance Safety Rule and Guidelines booklet, please visit our website at www.ameridanceinc.com or call our office at 800-966-5867.

Interruption of Performance In the event your routine is interrupted because of failure of tournament equipment, facilities, etc. You will be permitted to restart at the point of the interruption or at a point determined to be fair by the Competition Administrator. In the event your routine is interrupted because of failure of your equipment or supplies, you may either continue or withdraw from the competition. In the event an injury occurs during the performance, you may either continue or withdraw from the competition.

Awards Awards will be given for all participants in each solo division. The first place winner in each solo category will also receive a crown and sash. Ensembles will also be awarded places in all division. All participants will receive a participation award. The Dancer of the Year Nominee Award will be given out to a Senior in High School who performs a solo. The nominee will be chosen by the judges. In the Event of a Tie In the event of a tie for any place in any division, the “Overall Effect” scores of all judges during the performance will be totaled to break the tie.

Scoring Criteria and Penalties Each routine will be scored by three judges. For the Junior and Senior Soloists, the judging panel will score you one more time in your evening gown. All scores from the three judges will be added together to arrive at the grand total. If submitted by the participant, Bios will be read before their solo and pageant performances. Penalties will be assessed for violations of any safety guidelines or time limits.

Sportsmanship A maximum 25 point penalty will be assessed per infraction to any team whose coaches, team members, parents and fans display any acts of unsportsmanlike behavior during competition. Please see rules for further explanation of unsportsmanlike conduct.

Score Sheet & Results Score Sheets will be available for pick up immediately following the awards ceremony. Results will be posted on the website 3 days following the competition.
