The following are the recipes for the casseroles served for the March 11 breakfast by popular request. Cheese Strata with Ham and Tomatoes (serves 8-10) 1 tsp plus 1 Tbsp unsalted butter 1 cup diced baked ham (ham steak 12 large eggs works well) 1 ½ cups milk 1 pint cherry or grape tomatoes ½ cup cream 1 Tbsp minced flat leaf parsley Pinch ground nutmeg (fresh or dried) 1 ½ tsp thinly sliced chives 1 tsp kosher salt 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese ¼ tsp ground pepper (extra sharp or mild, your taste) 1 pound boule (round) sourdough bread, crust removed, cut into 1 inch cubes Grease 3 qt casserole with 1 tsp butter. Sauté tomatoes in a skillet over medium heat with salt, pepper, and 1 Tbsp olive oil until skins start to burst. Mix ham, tomatoes, parsley and chives in a small bowl. Whisk eggs, milk, cream, nutmeg, salt, and pepper together. Set aside Scatter ½ cup of cheese over the bottom of the casserole, cover with 1/3 of the bread cubes, and then evenly distribute ½ the ham/tomato mixture over the bread. Repeat the layers. Tope with a final layer of bread and remaining cheese. Pour the egg mixture over the bread layers and gently press it down with the back of a large spoon to get the top layer moistened. Melt 1 Tbsp of butter and drizzle over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake the strata, uncovered, until golden brown and slightly puffed, about 45-55 minutes. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Pecan-Topped French Toast Casserole (serves 8) 1 long loaf French bread, sliced 1 inch thick (discard ends) 1 ½ cups each: milk, half and half 6 large eggs 1 tsp pure vanilla extract 1/8 tsp each: ground nutmeg, cinnamon Topping: 1 cup packed light brown sugar ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened 2 Tbsp light corn syrup 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans Generously butter a 9x13 dish (glass is best). Fill the dish with bread slices so dish is completely covered with bread. Whisk milk, half and half, eggs, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a bowl. Pour over the bread. Make sure all the bread is soaked with the liquid. Use a spoon to gently press bread into liquid if necessary. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. Mix sugar, butter, and corn syrup in a bowl. Stir in pecans. (This mixture can be made ahead, covered, and refrigerated but allow to warm up the next day before you need to use it). Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Distribute pecan mixture evenly over the top of the casserole. Bake uncovered until puffed and topping is golden, about 40 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes before serving. Serve with maple syrup.

NOTES FROM SESSION (January and February meetings) SETTLE DOWN When children get a bit rambunctious, parents often tell them to "Settle down!" Adults dealing with physical ills, family or financial troubles, and other anxieties sometimes need to settle down. A quiet time communing with our heavenly parent can bring relief and comfort. With selected Scripture, meditations and prayer, These Days provides an incentive to pause, settle down and seek God's grace going forward. Free copies of the April-June issue are available on the literature table in the Nelson/White fellowship area. ****** Pat Campbell has moved to the Lexington Center. Her new address is: 400 West Butterfield Rd., #723 Elmhurst, IL 60126
