COME WALK THE SHEPHERD’S WALK--Wednesday of Holy Week, April 17, at 10:00 a.m. beginning by the Jones’ Beach Theatre and ending at Good Shepherd. The "Shepherd's Walk" is a guided prayer walk through the Journey to the Cross. This 18+ mile walk will feature the 14 Stations of the Cross. The day’s purpose is to give you space to reflect on the events of Jesus’ crucifixion in unique and meaningful way. Walk for yourself, a cause. Walk for peace, walk for someone you love, perhaps someone departed. As we walk each station we hear and come in touch with the events of the journey our Lord took to his crucifixion. Our soup and bread supper and service of Healing & Anointing follow at 6:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. SHEPHERD’S WALK MEETING: If you are interested in participating in this event in any way, (not just walking), please come to a planning meeting in the sanctuary immediately following next Sunday’s 10:15 a.m. worship. SUNDAY AFTERNOONS ARE MEANT FOR SOFTBALL! We’re doing it again! Here’s your chance to play in the Long Island Lutheran Softball League from May through mid-August! Tell your friends and join together—we are once again fielding a team (18 and older) to participate in a competitive league. We would play doubleheaders on Sunday with four possible time slots of 1:30 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 6:00 p.m. and 8:15 p.m., but never on Mothers’ Day, Memorial Day or Independence Day. Depending on the number of teams, there may be a bye week. Top 8 teams enter a 3-week (3 Sundays) double-elimination playoff series (one can play as few as two and out, or it could take from 4-7 games to take it all. Championship Sunday is typically a week or two before Labor Day. We would use the Town Hall Field, Lindenhurst, at Rt.109 & Sunrise Highway. Cost should be around $75. Doesn’t that sound great? PREFER A CO-ED TEAM? We are also looking for men and/or women (18 and older) to play in a recreational league on various fields throughout Nassau County on Sunday afternoons. For more information about Sunday Softball, please contact Glen Cacchioli at [email protected] or 516-526-6778. EASTER FOOD BASKETS FOR THE HUNGRY are once again being put together by Lutheran Social Services’ New Life Center. Please refer to the list of suggested items for these baskets below. Food donations will be received throughout the month of March in order to be delivered for Easter. As always, we appreciate your response to these appeals.
