SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD BEFORE GOING TO BED NEXT SATURDAY! Daylight Savings Time begins 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 10. Be sure to set your clock ahead…you wouldn’t want to be late to church! ETHEL’S COFFEE HOUR IS BEING HOSTED BY OUR GOOD SHEPHERD SCHOOL BOARD THIS MORNING. In addition to the goodies, envelops for donations to the OUR KIDS SCHOLARSHIP FUND will be on the table. Please take one and make whatever donation you can to this fund. Currently the fund is empty, and we are getting applications for school next year with requests for financial assistance. The reason for the fund is to make sure that no child is left out of the Good Shepherd School experience because of financial reasons. Leave your donation today in the basket at the coffee hour table or bring it next week and place it in the offering plate. Thank you so much for your consideration. -Good Shepherd School Board. SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER! We will be holding our annual pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, March 5th, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Fun and frolic for the entire family on this final day of indulgence before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. We thank Jim & Lori Mason for heading up this event and ask all of you to consider volunteering. We need plenty of help! Thank you for your support! THIS WEDNESDAY IS ASH WEDNESDAY! We will hold a service of Holy Communion with Imposition of Ashes at 7:30 p.m. here at Good Shepherd and a prayer service with Imposition of Ashes at 2:00 p.m. at Shepherd Hill Community Center. Confirmation class will be held at 6:30 p.m. and the students are asked to remain and participate in our Holy Eucharist/Imposition of Ashes worship at 7:30 p.m. PLEASE JOIN OR SUPPORT TEAM GOOD SHEPHERD HONORING ONE OF OUR OWN, DEREK ZACCHINO, AS WE AGAIN STAND UP TO CHILDHOOD CANCER ON MARCH 11!!! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is holding its annual head-shaving event right here in Plainview at Mattlin Middle School’s gym on Monday, March 11th, from 3:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., and we would once again like to “field” a team. This year’s team is in honor of one of our congregants, 16-year-old Derek Zacchino, who recently underwent surgery and is being treated for brain cancer. Last year our team of only six participants raised $7,058! Please help us surpass that amount by participating and/or donating! You can participate either as a shaver, a barber, or a volunteer. Please note that “Shaving your head” does not mean going bald, rather just a very short buzz cut. If you would like to actively participate or donate to Team Good Shepherd, please register or donate at https://www.stbaldricks.org/participants/mypage/1005382/2019. If you prefer not to donate on line, please use the donation form on the next page and Please consider asking your employer if they have a donation matching program and be sure to include that on the form. Whether you participate or not, be sure to stop by Mattlin Middle School on the 11th for food, raffles, hair extensions & lots of fun! Maybe you’ll win some great prizes!

AND SPEAKING OF WINNING… Enter your donation to St. Baldrick’s through this link: https://www.stbaldricks.org/fundraisers/mypage/3571/2019 for a chance to win two tickets to Hamilton Musical on May 1st at 8:00pm! Each $10 donation will give you one chance at winning. You may enter as often as you like. Please be sure to include both your preferred phone number and email address at the time you make your donation to ensure that St. Baldrick’s is able to contact you if you win. Your donation will go towards life-saving childhood cancer research grants. We can't do this without you! EASTER FOOD BASKETS FOR THE HUNGRY are once again being put together by Lutheran Social Services’ New Life Center. Please refer to the list of suggested items for these baskets below. Food donations will be received throughout the month of March in order to be delivered for Easter. As always, we appreciate your response to these appeals. PLEASE JOIN US ON WEDNESDAY EVENINGS FOR SOUP & BREAD & PRAYER Our Lenten soup & bread suppers take place in the gym each Wednesday evening Lent: March 13th, 20th, 27th, April 3rd, 10th & 17th at 6:15 p.m. We thank Lori & Jim Mason for hosting this each year. OUR HOLDEN EVENING PRAYER service immediately follows at 7:30 p.m. in the church. Feed your soul and your body with good things—don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to grow in faith and fellowship. Soup makers and bread bringers are always needed for this event. There’s a sign-up sheet awaiting your name in the narthex! FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CLASSES We will be celebrating First Holy Communion during our 10:15 a.m. worship service on Palm Sunday, April 14th. If you have a child in third grade or higher who would like to receive his/her First Holy Communion, please plan to attend two Communion classes: the first on Sunday, April 7th immediately following our 10:15 a.m. worship service and the second at our soup supper on Wednesday, April 10th at 6:15 p.m. in the school gym. If you have a baptized child younger than First Communion age, but you feel that he/she is ready to receive, please speak to Pastor Eric so that he/she may be included in this class.

We also need new hats, gloves, mittens, and socks. As always, thank you for your support. This is separate from our regular, ongoing food donations. THANK YOU FOR YOUR DONATIONS OF WEEKLY COUPONS to our Plainview Community Food Bank sponsored by the MIYJCC.
