Youth Sunday June 11th, 10:30am Please join for worship and an opportunity to celebrate and appreciate our children and youth, and our children and youth volunteers! Much of the service will be led by students of various ages, and this is a powerful opportunity to hear from them and recognize their contributions. It is also a chance to see all the adults who help to make our children and youth programs a success. We hope you will join us!

MAY EVENTS We Shall Overcome, Sunday, May 21, 2017 at 12:30 p.m., Parish Hall of Trinity Episcopal Church (2217 Columbia Pike Arlington, Virginia 22204). Come see and hear the story of Civil Rights Legend Joan Trumpauer Mulholland: Freedom Rider, Participant in Sit-ins, and one of the organizers of the March on Washington. Joan’s path crossed those of: Martin Luther King, Jr., Medgar Evers, Fannie Lou Hammer, Robert F. Kennedy John Lewis, Julian Bond and others. She will share her story. Free Admission and Light Refreshments Served Free street level parking available in the BM Smith Garage across from the church on Wayne Street.

St. George's Films Presents: THE NEWBORN PEEP. Sunday, June 11 (after the 10:30am service). Follow Joseph and Mary on their journey to Bethlehem and celebrate the birth of Jesus. Starring the 4th-6th grade Sunday School Class. Directed by Mr. Bernie DeLeo and produced by Mr. Timothy Byrne.

Sisterhood of Progressive Christians, May 23rd, 7:00 PM Parish Hall. Both men and women are invited to join us for this special meeting of the Sisterhood of Progressive Christians, a new interdenominational group that seeks to amplify the voices of progressive Christian women in the public sphere. We will be joined via Skype by Jeff Chu, author of Does Jesus Really Love Me? A Gay Christian's Pilgrimage in Search of God in America. Chu is an accomplished journalist who is now in seminary and writes powerfully about his year travelling to interview everyone from the leaders of Westboro Baptist to Jennifer Knapp, who came out after years in the spotlight as a popular Christian singer. 3rd Annual "St. George's at Capital Pride" on Sunday, June 11.On Sunday, June 11th, St. George's will be participating in the Capital Pride Festival where we'll have a table in the faith-based area. A planning meeting for anyone interested in volunteering at the booth and attending will be held on Tuesday, May 9th at 7pm at Freddie's Beach Bar on 23rd Street in South Arlington. As an incentive, it's Taco Tuesday there and the atmosphere will get us ready for Pride. We welcome all our St. Georgians who are interested in the planning process or especially when it comes to volunteering at the booth on June 11th. JUNE EVENTS

Empower the Homeless BBQ Lunch, Sunday, June 18th following the 10:30 service. Please save the date for our annual BBQ lunch. All parishioners are welcome as we sit down with each other, members from Samaritan Ministry and A-SPAN, as well as our clients from St. George’s Food Pantry and HOST. Everyone is welcome. The BBQ lunch is about community and fellowship. Along the way we’ll raise some money for Samaritan Ministry and A-SPAN.

Confirmation, June 11th, Saint Francis Episcopal Church, Great Falls, 2 p.m. Saint George's will be presenting 8 adults for confirmation/reception!

St. George’s Men’s Group will meet on Saturday, June 3rd, at 8:00 AM in the Rhodes Room. A light breakfast of bagels, donuts, muffins and Starbuck's coffee will be served starting at 8:00 AM. Our discussion topic will be Christian Ethics in the Business World (Part 2). We had so much to talk about in our May meeting regarding this topic, that we will continue the discussion for this month. We hope that you will join us. Pentecost Service and Lunch with San Jose, June 4th, 10:30. Please join us for this yearly bi-lingual service on the front lawn followed by lunch! Our guest preacher will be the Rev. Tom Prichard. To help make this a special occasion, we are asking members to bring food to share.
