Announcements Hello to all my IDEA Parents and Students, This is from your IDEA Cafeteria Manager regarding ALL negative balances. We are just asking that as we move closer towards the end of the year our families who are at full pay and reduced pay check and make sure to pay their balances as needed. Cafeteria Bike Contest Every student from Kinder to 5th grade that eat lunch at the cafeteria will have the opportunity to participate in a bike drawing. Starting February 18, 2016 to April 29, 2016. The Prize will be deliver on April 30.  IDEA Carver Talent Show It’s time for our spring talent show to be held at the Jo Long Theatre, 226 N Hackberry San Antonio, TX 78202 on May 23, 2016.  Saturday School All students from 3rd, 4th and 5th grades that did not pass AI3 will be attending to Saturday School on April 2, 9, 23 and 30. For more info, please contact the homeroom teachers.

K – 2nd Grade News April 4 – 8, 2016 What will we be learning? Kinder To measure accuracy and fluency); Congratulations to our 34 kindergarteners who have started the FIRST GRADE PROGR AM! They have met their reading EOY goal! Continue to practice reading the fast way and practice any vocabulary words they miss on the homework. Language: opposites; absurdities; same/different Math: split counting; mental math (+0, +1, +2, +3, +4 problems); addition, subtraction 1st Grade Reading: Reading aloud; fluency, Timed reading tests, Silent “E” rule, 2 sounded combinations (ar) (al) (ou), long and short vowel words. Language: Similarities/Opposites, Spelling, Directions (N, S, E, W) and Calendar Facts. Math: Fast cycling (certain groups), Counting money, Plus 10s, Number Families, and Addition/Subtraction. 2nd Grade Reading/Language: Reading Comprehension, Fluency, Reading checkout/mastery test Spelling Math: Timed Addition/Subtraction Facts, Number Families, Column Addition/Subtraction

3rd – 5th Grade News April 4 – 8, 2016 What will we be learning? 3rd Grade Students will be reviewing poetry vocabulary: narrative, lyrical, humorous, free verse, speaker, poet, and theme. We will also practice drawing conclusions and understanding the meaning of words 4th Grade Reading: Students will make inferences based on facts they selected in a text. Math: Countdown to STAAR. All unit will be reviewed to help improve student’s problem solving skills. 5th Grade 5th grade took their math and reading STAAR Test this week. Tutoring will resume next week and we will also begin Saturday School this Saturday. Letters have been sent out to those students who are required to attend.
