ANNOUNCEMENTS Sunday, February 12, 2017

Today Nursery Care. Infants and children up to age five are welcome in the church nursery. The nursery is open from 7:45 am - 12:15 pm and is staffed by warm, caring adults who look after our children. Crayons and paper are also available in the Buddy Baskets at the back of the Nave. Holy Eucharist, Rite I, 8:00 am, Nave. Orkney Springs comes to Arlington! Shrine Mont Forum, 9:30am-10:15 in the Parish Hall. Come get a taste of Shrine Mont without even leaving the county- Kirk Gibson is joining us to help us reflect on the history of Shrine Mont, and also look ahead to the future-- including construction and other improvements flowing from their Shout it from the Mountain campaign. This is also a way to look ahead to our Parish Retreat this spring, and to the multiplicity of opportunities for reflection this summer-- including summer camp! Sunday School and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, preschool through 12th grade, 9:30-10:15 am, Upstairs.

Join your fellow Saint Georgians for this opportunity for relaxation, reflection, connection and fellowship in the beautiful Shenandoah Mountains. Brochures and registration forms (printed on green paper) are located in the Narthex (across from the Parish Administrator's office), at the back of the Nave, and in the Parish Hall. Shrine Mont Camps Registration! Registration is open for youth summer camp and for family camp on the Mountain at Shrine Mont! Now is a great time to start coordinating with your friends so that you can have fun up there together this summer. The links below include descriptions and dates of each camp, along with prices. There is also information on their website about scholarships, and the pre-camp webinar video also provides a helpful overview of the camps for those who haven't participated before. Many youth across the Diocese consider Shrine Mont to be a spiritual home and a source of refreshment and encouragement. www.shrinemontcamps.net/camp-descriptions http://www.shrinemontcamps.net/dates--prices Need Volunteers at the Court House Shelter A-SPAN has set aside the third Sunday of every month for St. Georgians to volunteer at their shelter. Our next Sundays will be January 15 and February 19 and March 19. Volunteers will serve dinner and clean up between 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM. The shelter’s new location is about a block from the Courthouse Metro Stop. The address is: 2020-A N. 14th St. Arlington, VA 22201 (No te that the 2020-A entrance is only a few feet further on from the main 2020 entrance. John Churchman will be waiting at the entrance.) FEBRUARY EVENTS

"Judges and Kings and Presidents, Oh My!" In the run-up to Presidents' Day weekend, on February 12 at 7 pm in the Rhodes Room our St. George's 20s & 30s group will be having their Non-Trivial Pursuits gathering and discussing the beginnings of our nation and the organization of the Episcopal Church, the similarities and differences that the Episcopal Church has with the Anglican Church in England, and the interactions between faiths and governments going all the way back to the books of Judges and Kings." Embodied Voice, Spirit Embodied Workshop, Saturday, Feb 25 from 1:00-3:00pm, Parish Hall. Participants in this workshop will explore breath awareness, vocal sensation and vibration, and movement as we discover the spirit within and commune with the Divine Spirit. We will explore the Psalms as a means of embodied prayer. Please come dressed to move comfortably. Handouts will be provided. This workshop is led by Melissa Hurt, owner of Integrative Studio, and Lessac certified trainer of voice, speech, and movement. Please email Melissa if you plan on attending at [email protected]. The workshop will be Saturday, Feb 25 from 1:00-3:00pm and costs $20. Please have exact cash or check available at the beginning of the workshop. Lenten Study, Sunday’s from March 5th through April 9th, during Adult Forum (9:30-10:15 am, Parish Hall) and during 20s and 30s (7:00 pm, Rhodes Room). This Lent we will be exploring the “5 Marks of Love” that characterize the Divine life. Throughout Lent we will be partnering with the Society of St John the Evangelist. Each participant will receive their own study book to

continue to use throughout this Lenten series. Don't let Lent be just another forty days without a coke. Let this Lent be the one that transforms you with this exciting spiritual discipline. VOICE Update St. George's VOICE Core Leaders attended the regional VOICE meeting on Sunday afternoon, Jan. 29th at Fairfax United Methodist Church. The regional meeting typically draws 100 members from VOICE congregations--this meeting drew over 300 attendees, including many new Muslim members. The meeting included prayers, an opportunity to meet others and regional caucuses.
