Foreword from the Employment and Skills Board Chairman
Foreword from The Employment and Skills Board Chairman
________________
I am delighted to be presenting the Dorset Employment and Skills Board First Annual Report. The report reminds us all of the Purpose, Priorities, and Values that govern and inform our work. It also showcases what we have achieved this year – What Did We Do in 2015? And briefly explains what we will be doing next year – What Will We Be Doing in 2016? As a formal subgroup of the Dorset Local Enterprise (LEP) we as the ESB Board are committed to doing all we can to help Dorset develop and deliver the skills its economy needs. 2015 saw the work of the ESB emerge from its ‘forming’ phase and transition to a different phase where we took more responsibility for the development and delivery of skills project that will make a real difference across our county. These projects were delivered under the overall heading ‘Making it Happen’. We are particularly proud of these initiatives and the concomitant impact assessments ‘Did it Happen?’ We are determined throughout 2016 to be a Board that continues to make a difference and will be launching several initiatives next year under the new heading ‘Growth Through Dorset People’. Another one of our Priorities next year is to build closer links with the full LEP Board to enable us to fulfil our primary objective; ‘To provide strategic leadership and oversight to tackle worklessness and improve skills across Dorset’. I would like to thank everyone for their contribution to the ESB this year and I look forward to more success in 2016.
